Its high time South Africa knows the truth – Jacob Zuma interview exposes all (WATCH VIDEO)

The younger Zuma has said that in his opinion, the full national lockdown was implemented prematurely in a long interview between father and son that also makes fun of the ‘Gaddafi millions’.

Former president Jacob Zuma has said it is time for him to start speaking out on state capture in an attempt to connect the dots for South Africans who may have been misled.

In a candid interview with his son Duduzane Zuma, the former president touches on the alleged Muammar Gaddafi millions he has been accused of keeping, state capture, Deputy President David Mabuza’s poisoning plot and the decisions the country has taken amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

In the trailer of the interview, Zuma denies any links to Gaddafi’s millions and the state capture.

He said: “I wish I was sitting on money because nobody has ever shown me where the money I’m sitting on is. Nobody has said here was Zuma and the state capture. It has been my worry that Africa was colonised by Europe and I think South Africa has been part of the discussion. How do we unite Africa instead of it being controlled by former colonisers?

“My view is that we should unite South Africa, and take control against our colonisers. I think the time has come that I may now start speaking.”

Duduzane, who appeared before the Zondo commission, said the only way to shed light on state capture was to confront it instead of running away.

“To a certain degree, I can say I feel your pain. We can’t run away from these issues. We confront them because that’s who we are,” he said.

He further touched on the country’s nationwide lockdown, which is now on level 4, saying it was implemented prematurely.

“Whenever the lockdown is lifted completely, the damage has been done. I believe that a full lockdown of South Africa was a bit premature at that time. There hasn’t been much that’s been done, in my view. Not because we don’t know what to do but because there’s no willingness to do so,” he said.

Towards the end of the clip below, Duduzane further made fun of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s struggle with his face mask, much to his father’s amusement.

Watch the video below:

Zuma has announced he will no longer be approaching the Constitutional Court to have his prosecution stayed for alleged corruption related to the arms deal.

“This indeed paves the way for him to prepare for the trial and demonstrate that he has never benefitted from any arms deal corruption or tried to evade the trial.

“He hopes that his innocence will indeed be demonstrated for all to see,” said the JG Zuma Foundation in a statement last week.

The case is expected to resume again on 6 May, though it is unclear if the Covid-19 crisis may affect it.

Man who was arrested for spreading coronavirus shares painful story as community abuses his family

Man who was arrested for spreading coronavirus shares painful story as community abuses his family

A Limpopo man speaks of the ordeal he and his family faced after lies about his Covid-19 diagnosis were spread

A HEARTLESS monster, infected with the deadly Covid-19 virus was stalking Tzaneen and knowingly spreading the virus to everyone he encountered. Villagers, already panicking about the disease that had rapidly crossed oceans and claimed tens of thousands of lives around the world, were terrified.

So when a picture of the handsome, smartly dressed man popped onto their cellphone screens, they shared it, and his name with everyone they knew – with terrible consequences for him.

Bongani Ngoveni was the man in the photos, but it was a few days before he found out his community thought he was a monster.

When he tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, Bongani did what he was supposed to do – he called his family to break the bad news, and asked them to prepare a separate room for him so he could self-quarantine during the lockdown.

He had no symptoms of the virus – aches, fever or difficulty breathing – but the worst was still to come for the 30-year-old.

He arrived home in Nkambako Village outside Tzaneen in Limpopo to learn that not only was his diagnosis no longer a private matter, his picture was being circulated on social media, along with accusations that he was knowingly spreading the virus.

A story that he had been arrested and charged for spreading the virus, soon followed.

Bongani is furious that someone did this to him and his family, who have suffered terrible abuse from their fellow villagers. Only an immediate neighbouring household supported them.

His mother, Angelina, says people openly mocked her and called her names, like “Mhana Corona” (Corona’s mom), and refused to interact with her or the rest of her family.

“We didn’t have any peace. When doing something simple like going to the shop to buy bread, people would blast us on social media saying we wanted to spread the virus.

“They didn’t see me as a fellow human being anymore and they would run when they saw me coming.”

Bongani has his suspicions about who started the rumours.

He suspects it’s someone he knows quite well – someone who knew of his diagnosis and who had the picture of him that went viral.

“I won’t do anything to them, but I just want to know who was responsible for spreading lies about me,” he says.

BONGANI was tested for Covid-19 after he was exposed to someone else who had tested positive while they were working in Germiston. His company, which he prefers not to name, sent him and his colleagues for testing on 18 March, covering the R1 100 cost of each worker.

“After testing, we all went home as our company closed soon after, heeding the government’s call to self-isolate.”

Bongani decided to head home to Limpopo before the start of the national lockdown, which was to begin on midnight 26 March.

“I thought this was a good time to spend time with my family as we don’t get to see each other often because of work commitments. I drove home on Thursday 26 March without yet knowing my results,” he recalls.

He was on his way home when his boss called to let him know he had tested positive.

“As I approached home, I phoned my family and explained the situation. I told them not to come close to me. They placed all essentials in my room so I wouldn’t have to move around the house,” he says.

The day after he got home he went to a private clinic to inform them of his status. He was advised to self-isolate, and he headed back home.

“But by the time I passed the local tuckshop I was already the talk of the town – and not only at home but back in Gauteng where I’d travelled from. Someone had posted pictures of me on social media and they were circulating rumours that I was walking around to make people ill.”

Then came the rumours that he had been arrested.

“I was never arrested,” he tells us, explaining that health department workers who came to his home to escort him to hospital were accompanied by police officers. He spent a day in hospital before he was discharged and taken to a house in Modimolle to be quarantined.

“It’s also not true that I attempted to run from the police. Why would I? I was saving my life. There was no reason for me to run off.”

FEAR is driving acts of stigmatisation in communities, experts say. “Covid-19 is a new disease that most people have very limited information about,” explains Dr Rendani Mafuyeka, a clinical virology pathologist. “People may have just heard how the disease is killing many people in countries like China, Italy and the USA. So if you are infected, people may not want to be associated with you because of fear of infection and possibly death.

“What the community should know is that most people infected with this virus will recover without any complications. Individuals at higher risk of complications and death are the elderly and persons with underlying chronic medical conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, cancer or diabetes.

“Several studies indicate that generally people fear the unknown. This is a new disease caused by a new virus with limited information available to most people in our communities,” Dr Mafuyeka says.

Bongani explains that there was nothing to fear during his quarantine.

“I was treated well. I was in a house by myself and given strict instructions to stay put. I had access to anything I wanted to eat. I was comfortable.”

A spokesperson for the national prosecuting authority confirmed that Bongani had not been arrested, nor was he under investigation.

He spent six days in isolation and was tested again for the virus. The test came back negative and he was discharged and taken home, where he was welcomed back by Maripe Mangena, mayor of the Greater Tzaneen municipality.

“The idea was to rally community leaders to support his return home,” says Neville Ndlala, the mayor’s spokesman. “We are educating people to help them understand the virus and how to treat those who are infected or suspected to have Covid-19.

“Bongani was very emotional about his ordeal, especially the fact that people threatened to harm him and his family. He could hardly talk on the day of the visit.”

Bongani says he just wants to move on with his life.

“I have no fight in me. I do not want to sue anyone. All I’m looking for right now is to find the person who spread lies about me so I can find peace. Clearing my name is the important thing right now.”

Simphiwe Dana over the moon after receiving her royalties

Simphiwe Dana over the moon after receiving her royalties

Award-winning SA songstress Simphiwe Dana, who recently dropped her fifth album Bamako, is on cloud nine after receiving that payment bank notification. The songstress took to Twitter to share that she has received her royalties payment, from the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO).

It is no secret that during these trying times, some people have been feeling the financial constraint of ‘No work, no pay’, as we are on lockdown. The lockdown period has resulted in a lot of public outcry for financial help, as a lot of things have come to a standstill.

Creative practitioners in the entertainment fraternity have also been subjected to gigs and bookings getting cancelled, as events are prohibited, but SAMPRA came through for Simphiwe and hopefully for other musicians too.

The songstress raised the burning question of why are actors not receiving royalties as musicians do, but hopefully, the heavyweights of the industry would be able to answer her question.

Teacher uses R70k meant to buy graduating daughter a car, to feed hungry community

Teacher uses R70k meant to buy graduating daughter a car, to feed hungry community

Cape Town – It is every parent’s pride to see their child graduate from university, and it was no different for this Athlone dad.
But instead of buying his daughter the car she deserved for getting her PhD in Geology, Kewtown teacher Ebrahim Abrahams used the R70 000 he had saved to feed hungry people in his community during the national lockdown.

Ebrahim, who works at Kewtown Primary School and is a father of 10, wanted to surprise his 26-year old daughter Miengah with a car after her graduation, but after seeing the suffering in his community, he had a change of heart.

“Many children depended on the school feeding scheme and they would take home some food from there,” the teacher says.

“I wondered how they were surviving the lockdown without the meals from school.”

Ebrahim told his daughter about his plans and to his delight, she supported him.

“She even made a contribution towards the feeding scheme,” the proud father says.

“My family supported me from the first day I announced this and they are the ones who help prepare the daily meals.”

Teacher uses R70k meant to buy graduating daughter a car, to feed hungry community

Kewtown Primary School teacher Ebrahim Abrahams saved R70 000 to buy his daughter a car for her PhD graduation present, but opted to plough the money into feeding the community during Covid-19 lockdown.
Every day since the lockdown started on 27 March, 500 meals are prepared and this is done without any sponsorship or donations.

The Grade 6 teacher initially planned to feed only children, but hungry adults started coming to get food too.

“We are doing what little bit we can to assist and this would have not been possible without the assistance of five ladies who know the community well and do the food deliveries for us.”

One of these women, Roslyn Rive, calls Ebrahim “a blessing”.

“We started the same week when the lockdown started, making 500 meals a day,” she says.

“This man is a blessing. He took money that was meant for his daughter’s car and assisted the community.

“This is so much considering that he has been teaching here for only three years.”

Kewtown resident, Yvonne Jaftha, said: “We, the community of Kewtown, would like to thank Mr. Ebrahim Abrahams for feeding our community.”

Somizi’s hubby Mohale slammed for making fun of the poor in ‘grant video’

Somizi's hubby Mohale slammed for making fun of the poor in 'grant video'

Mohale Mhlongo-Motaung faced the Twitter firing squad over the weekend after a video of him joking about what people may do with the R350 Covid-19 unemployment grant fell flat.

The star caused a stir on social media when he posted a TikTok of him lip-syncing a call to a car dealership asking them how much a Polo Vivo costs.

“Me after getting the R350 the government promised us,” Mohale wrote.

The video soon went viral, and sparked outrage on social media.

While some found it funny, others claimed that Mohale was making jokes at the poor’s expense and was being insensitive to those who needed the grant.

Mohale later deleted the video as his name raced up the Twitter trends list and he is yet to responded to the criticism.

Meanwhile, social media has been lit with memes and comments about the post.
