Cassper Nyovest speaks on the impact of lockdown – I sold 2 cars just to get by
Cassper Nyovest has a lot of tales to reveal about his COVID-19 experience and how he successfully survived the hectic stage. The virus is still very much in the air, but its’ spread has reduced.
In a recent interview with Texx Talks, the rapper detailed his survival scheme as an artist who had no gig during the lockdown.
“It was scary at first, I won’t even lie. I didn’t know what was going to happen. Going from making hundreds of thousands per weekend to zero, it’s like ‘what the hell?’. I was used to a certain type of lifestyle and not worrying about money and the first 21 days were like alright, everybody had money somewhere, two month later everybody is broke and you really making no income.
So thanks to just having other income streams besides making music I was able to survive and not lose anything.
During the pandemic period, some South African artists publicly announced that they’re broke, while a few others were emphatic on cutting down the lavish lifestyle, in other to have little to spend. In Mufasa’s case, he had to sell 2 of his cars to feed himself and family.
I sold two cars just to minimize my expenditure so I had to let go of a business vehicle and a personal vehicle. I kept my favourite car still and I kept my home and I was able to help my family members get through it,” he added.
