Boy (13) becomes the first known person to ever beat Tetris
Los Angeles – In a groundbreaking achievement, a 13-year-old competitive gamer from the US, Willis Gibson, also known as “Blue Scuti,” has become the first human to reach the elusive “kill screen” in the Nintendo version of the classic computer game Tetris. This accomplishment had previously been accomplished solely by artificial intelligence.
Fellow players eagerly followed Willis’s progress as he played, and he documented his feat in a more than 40-minute video uploaded to YouTube this week. Towards the end of the video, Willis’s excitement becomes palpable as he repeatedly exclaims, “Oh my God.”
Breathlessly, he adds, “I can’t feel my fingers,” This remarkable accomplishment marks a significant milestone for the Tetris enthusiast community, which includes both online and in-person tournaments.
According to The New York Times, Classic Tetris World Championship president Vince Clemente remarked, “It’s never been done by a human before,”
