Actor Dumisani Dlamini dragged for congratulating his daughter Doja Cat over her Grammy win
Dumisani Dlamini couldn’t have anticipated that just giving a congratulatory message to his daughter Doja Cat for her Grammy Award would have the entire Calvary come down on him.
Dumisani is a legendary South African actor. He is known for being in the internationally acclaimed Sarafina movie and the stage play. Dumisani played the character of Crocodile.
Dumisani is the father of American Singer and rapper Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, popularly known as Doja Cat.
Doja Cat has been singing and releasing music on Sound cloud since she was a teenager.
Doja Cat won her first Grammy award on the 3rd of April when the 64th ceremony was held.
The drama started when Dumisani, who doesn’t have a close relationship with Doja Cat, took to Instagram to congratulate his 36-year-old daughter for receiving a Grammy.
“Just wanted to thank everyone who supported my child Zandile God Bless you all” Dumisani wrote this in bold capital letters, captioning a picture of Doja Cat carrying her Grammy Award.
His followers didn’t waste any time giving him a piece of their minds.
They called him out for not even knowing her and accused him of clout chasing.
Some even advised him to delete the post because he was embarrassing himself.
Dumisani and Doja Cat’s story goes back to when she started making a name for herself, and in an interview, she had with Whoopi Goldberg a few years ago, she told Whoopi that she had never met her father and mentioned that Whoopi had. Whoopi Goldberg was in Sarafina with Dumisani playing the character of Miss Masombuka.
Three years ago, Dumisani denied Dojas’s claims of being estranged and said her team was to blame for their separation because he said he always tried to make contact with her even before she became famous.
Dumisani went abroad with the Sarafina play and stayed behind in America for fifteen years. He said he developed a relationship with a Jewish-American woman, and they started a family giving birth to two kids.
He left to come back to South Africa to pursue his acting career.
Dumisani said that he and his daughter had started to talk, but her management stopped any efforts he made to contact Zandile.
Doja Cat won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo with SZA for their song Kiss Me More.
