Award-winning kwaito star Bonginkosi Dlamini, popularly known as Zola 7, has clinched a deal with a South African cellphone company, Mobicel.

Mobicel recently took to Twitter to announce the partnership.

“We are pleased to announce our official collaboration with @Officialzola7 . Welcome aboard the Purple Train Zola. Thanks for representing @MobicelSA at A Night with Legends. Lots to come, stay tuned!,” Mobicel said.

The star also confirmed the partnership on his Twitter timeline and promised game-changing news.

“Hola Mzanzi.. guess what?! I’ve officially teamed up with @Mobicelsa and will be bringing you some game-changing news soon. Follow @mobicelsa – BIGGER news coming soon – don’t miss it #namanje,” he wrote.

The radio and TV host who will be traveling around Mzansi educating people on the beneficial use of technology said he was excited for the opportunity, reported Daily Sun.

He said the partnership would also help in his brand’s recovery, the report said.

“I’m looking forward to being part of an exciting opportunity to empower the youth as the brand offers development opportunities for them. It wasn’t a hard decision.

“I believe in working with the poorest communities to bring change. When they approached me about this partnership, I jumped at it,” the report quoted Zola 7.

Earlier this year, the South African star was reported to have fallen on hard times.
In March, he had his fans worried when a video featuring him sitting and talking to people while smoking, looking gaunt, was shared on social media, along with claims he was epileptic and in serious need of medication and financial assistance.

The video sparked outrage with fans calling for donations for his medical care and expenses.

Following the calls, Zola took to Facebook to thank Mzansi for the love he was been showered with and shared his bank details.

“I’ve received hundreds of texts asking for my banking details. I see I’m trending on Twitter and plenty of people are offering financial assistance as gratitude. I’ve never expected anything in return for the help I’ve given people in need but this is truly humbling. Initially, I rejected this notion ngoba I’m a proud Nguni man kodwa futhi kuthiwa ungabo jikisa isipho osphiwa sona. Ngakho, ngiyabonga Guluva Nation. I can’t respond to all of you kodwa here are the banking details eniwacelile,” wrote Zola 7 in a Facebook post.
