Zandile Myeni elected eThekwini deputy mayor

Zandile Myeni from the NFP has been elected the new Deputy eThekwini Mayor.

The announcement was made on Friday night after a long sitting.

Samkelisiwe Sishange is the new whip of the council.

Meanwhile, eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda survived a motion of no confidence meant to unseat him.

A total of 127 councillors voted to keep him, against the 81 that wanted him gone.
