Zahara was hospitalised two days after lobolo negotiations
A family member has revealed that Zahara was doing perfectly well and in high spirits days before she was rushed to hospital. Speaking to Zimoja, the source revealed that the Ndiza hitmaker was still celebrating her successful lobolo negotiations, which had taken place two days prior, when she fell ill. Zahara is engaged to engineer Mpho Xaba, who proposed to her earlier in the year. The couple were reportedly set to tie the knot later this year.
“What is surprising is that when Zahara celebrated her 36th birthday on November 9, she was as strong as an ox. She didn’t show of signs of being sick,” said the relative.
“The lobola negotiations went well during the visit by the Xaba delegation. The family representing the Mkutukanas was happy that Zahara would finally get married to someone she loves dearly. But someone interfered with the whole process by bewitching her,” the source added. The award-winning singer was hospitalised last month where she was transferred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as her condition became severe.
Fellow musician and Zahara’s friend Vusi Nova told Zimoja that the Destiny singer looked healthy and happy the last time they spoke. The Ndikuthandile hitmaker shared that they were preparing for a gig outside the country.
She was okay, doing perfectly fine. We were sorting out details for a gig in Mozambique and she was looking forward to it and then this happened,” he says. There were no signs of ill health or anything. She was her usual self. Life is weird at times, you think you are okay and healthy but your body has other plans.
“Knowing that she is lying there, helpless hurts,” he added. Vusi said he’s been visiting Zahara everyday and sometimes she appears to be making progress, but other days she seems to be regressing. I have been going to see her everyday. Days are not the same. Some days she is fine, getting better and some days I leave there crying,” he says.
“At the moment she is not awake or speaking and I am praying and hoping that today when I visit her she will be awake. It breaks my heart. It’s tough seeing someone so full of life. Bulelwa is very out there, bossy, vibrant, expressive. To see her in that light is frustrating for me,” he says.
