Musicians Winnie Khumalo and her daughter Rethabile have come out to clear Prince Kaybee’s name after the deejay was accused by DJ TruMpeT of stealing a song called Isivunguvungu he had done with Rethabile.

The duo explained in a video clip that Prince Kaybee was just caught in the crossfire.

“We would like to clear Prince Kaybee’s name. He had nothing to do with anything that has happened,” Winnie said matter-of-factly.

She said her company Winnie K works with different producers and their strategy is to work as an equal partnership.

“We go 50/50 in a song. You come with your beat and we come with the lyrics and vocals. If we don’t agree we then part ways. You’ve got the right as a producer to use your beat the way you like. And we’ve got the right to use our lyrics and vocals the way we want,” she said.

Winnie went on to accuse TruMpet of lacking knowledge of the workings of the music industry.

After not seeing eye to eye with TruMpet, the pair went to Prince Kaybee with their lyrics and vocals. They say they didn’t use anything made by TruMpet on the latest version of the song in question.
