Our generation was truly blessed. Look at the giants in this video, Bab Joe Mafela, Mam Thembi, Mam Nandi… crazy. So on this particular day was the only day I recorded my shenanigans with Mam Mary on set. I’ve always been inexplicably attracted to hers & @somizi energy & sense of humour. There’s always a time where I struggle breathing through fits of laughter because of them- EVERYTIME I see them. I latched on to Mam Mary in a way I can’t explain. I was a shadow or tail on her at work. I always checked for her first in the call sheet. I’d beg to be in the same scenes as her but because all we did was laugh and make jokes nonstop- they ended up separating us so work would get done 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 . We’d sit outside together and I’d bother her with endless questions and we ate lunch together. She also sent me around to do stuff and sometimes she was just getting rid of me lol so she could learn her lines 😂🙄 . Or she’d be annoyed that we did things for her because she very self sufficient. So back to what happened that day… we found a fly in Bab Tiger’s food. A BIG GREEN fly that landed with the gravy on his pap. He wasn’t pleased at all and we ended up not even eating our own food 😭😂 . But we laughed for atleast 2 weeks and teased catering endlessly. She then started imitating the fly and as you can see I didn’t cope. I wish I took a video of when we initially started laughing about the fly and describing it to people. I was with @somizi the other day and basically I laughed just as much. Clearly the magic of making people happy can be passed on genetically. I have a terrible memory but I could never forget the day of the fly in Bab Tiger’s lunch . We had to be dragged to set and calm down to work and it was done. For me, this is the definition of doing the work you love and enjoying the journey to your destination. Spreading love and positivity with every situation around you. SHE DID THAT. And so is her son. So proud to know both of them and hope this gives you an idea of what happiness looks like but maybe, it’s one of those where you just had to have been there.

She did that, as is her child. So glad to know them two and expectation this gives you a thought of what satisfaction resembles yet perhaps, it’s one of those where you simply needed to have been there.”

Probably my most favourite actor to have ever worked with. I’d never let @somizi forget it. A woman so strong and so humble it wasn’t hard to fall in love with her or her work… and most definitely her children… To all of Mam’ Mary’s children… I can’t emphasize how highly she spoke of you. How much she loved her family and friends. To every problem “ngizofonela uSomizi.” This news is heartbreaking but no one deserves to be celebrated more than this giant in our industry. To her family and closest friends… we mourn with you and we could never understand but we hope to find a way to comfort you during this hard time. Alale ngok’thula uMama anethise izibusiso zangunaphakade kuni nezizukulwane zakhe zonke. Idlozi elihle. Rest in Power Ndlovukazi. @somizi I hope your words heal you and those most hurt by this tragedy. You are strong enough to carry the torch and bring light to those around you the way she did and more.
