SABC1 Uzalo actor Cebolenkosi Mthembu is warning Mzansi people to be extra careful when they are taking care of their sick family members.

The actor, who plays a fun cop with bombastic English words Captain Nyawo, is in isolation after he tested positive of Covid-19.

Cebolenkosi said he was infected with Covid-19 while taking care of his ill father Raphael Mthembu (57), who died on Sunday, 3 January due to Covid-19 complications.

He said he didn’t know that his father was infected with Covid-19 and only found out after he died.
The actor is still heartbroken because he didn’t attend his father’s funeral on Thursday, 7 January as he went into isolation after testing positive on Monday, 4 January.

Cebolenkosi told Daily Sun that Covid-19 is real and this is the time for people to change their mindset about it.

“Covid-19 has brought me double heartache. While I’m fighting it, I’m also hurting that I couldn’t bid farewell to my father or even arrange his funeral arrangements as his first born. I didn’t have a choice but to protect everyone. This is a time to be safe and protect each other. It hurts that our parents are leaving us because of this pandemic,” he said.

Cebolenkosi, who also works as a technician at Eskom and radio DJ on Imbokodo FM, said he will finish his isolation on Wednesday.
“I will check again to make sure the virus is gone. Right now I’m feeling better, but I have a little chest pain,” he said.

Cebolenkosi urged everyone to go check and isolate if they are infected.
