Update: SABC presenter who was ‘humiliated’ for being fat finds a beautiful dress she can fit

Comedian Lesego Thlabi took to social media recently, saying she was body shamed by fashion designer Quiteria Kekana.

Lesego, better known as Coconut Kelz, said she was left holding back her tears because Quiteria’s comments made her feel she had no value.

Opening up about the ordeal on Twitter on Wednesday, 24 February, Lesego said she went to a fitting for a TV show she was shooting and the clothes provided by Quiteria didn’t fit, despite having given him her size beforehand.

She said he told her she’d look like a fatty boom boom in the clothes.

“This is why fatphobia is so different to other shaming,” she wrote.

“I was made to feel like less than nothing today because of my body.

“My body is not good enough for his dresses & he let that s**t be known.

“He really could’ve said that to the stylist on the phone.”

At first, Lesego didn’t want to say who the designer was but later changed her mind.

“Actually, nah! It’s Quiteria. What happens from there is above me. It was st, st, s**t,” she wrote.

“If I lose this opportunity, I lose it. I’ll never ever wear something from there. And it was ‘Q’ himself.”

Quiteria went live on Instagram on Wednesday and denied calling Lesego fatty boom boom. He told the SunTeam he didn’t body shame her.

“I didn’t call her fat. I didn’t call anybody fatty boom boom, so I won’t apologize,” he said.

“I’d like my legal team to sort this out. My name is being dragged and it’s so sad.

“I don’t understand why she’d say this. I don’t know whether it’s jealousy or what.”

He said he didn’t have a conversation with Lesego because he didn’t know her.

“There was no way I could have body-shamed her,” he said.

“There were a lot of people in the store, including a stylist and wardrobe manager. I didn’t speak with her at all. The issue was that the tops were a bit small.”

They apparently met on Thursday, 25 February but he wouldn’t say what the meeting was about.
