MEDIA personality Criselda Kananda has outlined people’s reasons for cheating. The reasons include incompatibility, unfulfilled s.e.x life, education level, and continuous conflicts, among others.

In her Facebook post, she wrote: “It takes two to tango in a relationship. When your partner cheats on you, do take time to reflect on your role. This is in no way condoning cheating behaviour but knowing why your partner cheated will help you understand yourself.”

The post opened a debate as not everybody agreed with her.

Phinda Pheladi Mtya Matlala said: “I don’t agree with you. The reason spouses cheat rarely have anything to do with the spouse being cheated on. Most often they want it quiet, without ever reaching the ‘dissatisfying spouse’. Why would you do that if you only cheated because there was a problem? And I assume he wants the problem solved.”

Akhona Nkosi also disagreed with her and said: “I fully disagree. People cheat because they’re going through a storm internally. They could be cheating for a back-up plan in case you reject them. Unhealed childhood scars trigger lust and most believe multiple sex partners will close the void in their hearts.”

Meanwhile, Portia Molelekeng said cheating is a selfish decision.

“It takes two to tango, but cheating is a selfish decision that one takes in order to satisfy their needs. If you’re not happy with your partner, you need to communicate or simply leave,” she wrote.

But Thabo Phaladi said: “Yhoo, men cheat for no reason. Trust me on this one.”
