The real reason why Celia Magongwa is leaving Skeem Saam after a decade
Talented actress, Shoki Mmola, one of the more popular stars on Skeem Saam is leaving the drama after 10 years on the show. Shoki, affectionately known to millions of viewers as Celia Kunutu/Magoongwa has been part of Skeem Saam since in debut in 2011.
Shoki’s exit comes as a shock to fans of the show.
In the current storyline, Celia faces pressure from the hospital manager Mr Kgomo who’s constantly on her case.
Her husband, Aflred Magongwa has lost his eyesight after a prank by Turfloop High’s learners including his son Mahlatse and the troublesome Paxton Kgomo went wrong.
As a result he has been staying at home trying to recover and regain his eyesight. Viewers have not see Celia in recent episodes as she dissapeard. She did not give much explanation behind her sudden dissapreance but has told hospital manager Mr Kgomo that she’s had enough.
Alfred also wants nothing to do with her as he believes she is behind her car crash. This happened after he was advised to run for his life as the men who came looking for him last week were apperantly sent by Mr Kgomo.
The SABC has confirmed that Shoki Mmola bows out of Skeem Saam. The SABC bids farewell to Shoki Mmola who is leaving her role as Velia on Skeem Saam.
Shoki will be missed by her fellow cast members, crew members, and viewers watching at home. We wish her well and all the best with her future.
The actress also confirmed that she is leaving the show on her social media. She thanks everyone who has supported her in the last 28 years.

She will not been featuring in the new season that is starting on Monday 4th July.
According to sources, she leaves the show to focus on other ventures.
Shoki On Being Trapped In An Abusive Marriage For 10 Years
Speaking to Drum magazine a couple of years ago, the actress recalled having an abusive husband.
“I’ve always been a hands-on mother, I read to my kids, we play, and if they want me to roll on the floor and act like a dead cat I will, nothing has changed since Sello left us, except that we’re safe and don’t live in fear anymore”
Shoki went on to add that she had made sure to get the kids to get as much help as possible.
“My girls are now safe and attend the Teddy Bear Clinic, a foundation that helps kids who have either been abused or seen abuse.”
The actress now thinks very positively and focuses her energy on growing a small business.
“I have gained inner strength and my feet are firmly on the ground I know what I like and I laugh more, and my kids and I speak about everything.”
Shoki and her ex-husband Sello, are still in the process of finalizing their divorce, in the meantime, Shoki is determined to build her life with her kids again.
