Thandiswa Mazwai tells us what inspired her look
Noted for her extraordinary style, vocalist Thandiswa Mazwai has uncovered that her look initially started as a political explanation.
Thandiswa shared the roots of her feeling of style during her #MentorMondaysWithTha Q&A meeting with fans on Twitter.
During the convo, a fan asked her what roused her look, including that she was intrigued.
Appreciative for the commendation, King Tha answered to the fan and clarified her style started as a political articulation.
“Much thanks to you. My style started as a political explanation. At the point when I began in the business there were not really any ladies that appeared as though me in the media. The media anticipated that everybody should absorb. what’s more, I said no.”
Thandiswa added that being proud of her natural beauty was a priority for her, which validated who she is.
She explained that it first started as her trying African-like make-up, which led her to add beads and then dressing more street chic. The songstress said she wanted to show the younger generation that there was beauty in being African.
“African beauty was important to me because it validated me. I started with “amachokoza” as make-up then added beads to everyday streetwear and then to evening wear. Until it became eubiquitous. My idea was to show youngens that beauty in Africa cannot reside in whiteness. Amandla.”
