Moja Love parts ways with Sizok’thola presenter Xolani Khumalo. The channel released a statement on Friday, announcing the end of their relationship.

“Members of the public and the media are hereby notified that Moja Love TV Channels has terminated its relationship with Mr Xolani Khumalo, a presenter in one of the company’s leading shows, Sizok’thola.”

Khumalo is currently facing murder charges due to the death of an alleged drug dealer, Robert “Kicks” Varrie, who died shortly after a visit from Khumalo and his television crew while filming an episode of Sizok’thola.

Months ago, the host’s foundation released a statement about how Xolani was advised to hand himself over to the police.

“The South African Police Service has requested that Xolani Khumalo hand himself over in connection with an incident that occurred at one of the last drug busts,” said the foundation.

“Xolani Khumalo and the team operated according to the strictest standards of professionalism when engaged in securing accountability from those that sell drugs and choose to harm communities.”

Xolani is out on bail but will appear in court this November.

Xolani Khumalo who is well known for raiding drug-infested areas in his much-loved TV show, Sizokuthola, appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 19 September.

He was charged with the murder of a suspected drug dealer.

Xolani handed himself over at the Katlehong North Police Station on Tuesday, 19 September, where he was officially charged with the murder of Robert Varrie, who died during the recording of the Sizokuthola TV program in July.

Xolani was granted a bail of R20,000 and the case was postponed to 19 October.

Robert was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday, 19 July at Phadima Section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.

He was later dropped off at the Thelle Mogoerane regional hospital in Vosloorus by the crew.

State prosecutor Pheello Vilakazi said the deceased was strangled and died in hospital.

However, Xolani will spend a night at Ramokonopi Police Station after his family couldn’t pay the bail because the cash wall office was closed.

Xolani’s lawyer, Advocate Prince Mafu from Mawandla Law Chamber instructed by Van Zyl Johnson Attorneys read an affidavit stating that their client was a first-time offender.

Mafu said Xolani intended not to plead guilty to the murder case he’s facing.

Magistrate Singh Ashin gave Xolani bail instructions that he must not contact the witnesses and he must report to Midrand Police Station once a week. Xolani was also informed to hand over his passport to the investigation officer.

The deceased partner who witnessed the incident told Daily Sun that on that fateful day, Xolani and his crew with armed men and Amapanyaza patrollers came to their place and wanted drugs.

She said Robert only had a few drugs in his possession and gave them to the crew, but they demanded more.

She alleged that her boyfriend was assaulted even after he told them he only had a few drugs and was later taken to hospital by the crew.

The Xolani Khumalo Foundation spokesperson, Kgodiso Komane, said they are happy with the support from the community.

The court was full to capacity and some people had to sit outside.

“Xolani is a person but represents a warrior and a huge drug fighter. We all came in support to say hands off Xolani because of the job he is doing in the communities,” said Komane.

Sunday World reports that Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo, as well as Moja Love boss Aubrey Tau, have been receiving death threats. The crime-busting reality show seeks to bring down drug businesses in and around Johannesburg but it seems as though they have stepped onto some toes.

The publication reports that the two have been receiving threats of their lives if they do not cancel the show. Xolani works alongside police officers with the help of investigative journalists to hunt down drug dealers and bring them to book.

As a result, they have decided to hire more security guards for their safety and protection, seeing how they are not willing to stop their work.

Speaking on the matter, the Head of Channel Bokani Moyo told Sunday World:

“Station is aware of the threats made to the lives of its CEO and presenter were taking when we agreed to broadcast the show. We are obligated to highlight issues that affect society, as drugs and crime are negatively impacting our communities.”

Also not looking to back down, Xolani told the publication:

“I am not going to be intimidated and stopped from doing my job. It is our responsibility as South Africans to make sure that we root out all criminal elements in our society. As Sizok’thola team, we are still going to expose more wrongdoers. We need to rid our country of drugs and crime.”

Taking to social media, viewers relayed their views on the matter, saying criminals are shaking in their boots.
