South African actress, Tumi Masemola, has finally broken her silence after causing pandemonium on social media last night. The River’s latest cast member had erroneously included musician, Candy Tsa Mandebele’s image in a tribute post, which honoured the women in the industry who had sadly passed away.

After stay quiet for what felt like too long, Tumi tweeted, “My sincere apologies for my grave error. I am completely embarrassed and wish I could dig a hole. Le ntshwareleng for posting incorrect image. CandyTsamaNdebele is very much alive.” Prior to her clarification, Candy took it upon herself to confirm that she was alive and healthy, after seeing multiple messages from fans who believed that she had died.

Fans however were not quick to forgive her for her mistake, with many sharing their anger towards Tumi, in response to her tweet.

Chaos as actress Tumi Masemola mourns death of wrong person

Masemola meant to share her condolences for Candy Moloi, mother to actress Lerato Zah Moloi, whose passing was announced on Tuesday.

Actress, musician, and former Gang of Instrumentals member Tumi Masemola has had to issue an apology after she posted an image mourning the wrong Candy shortly after the death of veteran actress Candy Moloi was announced.

“My heart is broken. I am not one to regularly post those who have passed. To me it is like glorifying death but this morning, I will publicly mourn women who continue to inspire me in my every day. May your souls rest in love. My deepest condolences to their families,” tweeted Masemola on Wednesday along with an image of Candy Tsa Mandebele alongside the recently deceased Zindzi Mandela, Mary Twala and Monyeen Lee.

The tweet stayed up for hours before Masemola realized her mistake and apologized. All the while, upset Twitter users criticized her for the mistake.

Masemola meant to share her condolences for Candy Moloi, mother to actress Lerato Zah Moloi.

For years, Candy played the role of Vho-Makhadzi on the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango.

Her passing was confirmed on Tuesday by SABC and Muvhango producers in a joint statement. Her cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Talk about pulling a Mark Fish on us. Tumi Masemola joined a mourners as they took to Twitter to pay tribute to the celebrities we recently lost. Her only mistake was logging off after sharing her tweet which had a major error.

The actress and singer shared pictures of Zindzi Mandela, Mary Twala, Moonyeen Lee, and, WAIT FOR IT…Candy Tsa Mandebele. It is quite evident that Tumi misread the #RIPCandy that trended on social media on the day. In fact the nation was mourning the death of veteran actress Candy Moloi, who is best known for her role as Makhadzi on SABC2 drama Muvhango.

This definitely reminded us of the time when the former Fish posted a wrong ‘Hugh Masekela’ picture. The former Bafana Bafana player, shared a picture of himself with Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse while paying tribute to the late Hugh.

It’s never too late to rectify a mistake though. Tumi became the bigger person when she deleted the tweet, and posted an apology for the error she made.

Gang of instrumentals singer and actress Tumi Masemola recently joined ‘The River’ 1 Magic, currently available on DSTV premium, and we’re not sure if she’ll be on the show for long.

She plays one of Cobra’s many baby mamas. She recently popped out of nowhere and dropped off a teenage boy at the Mokoena house, saying that she’s tired of being the only one taking responsibility for their son.

Named Morena, Cobra and Masemola’s character had the boy when they were still in high school. However, Cobra didn’t know that Morena was his son until now.

The 38-year-old is popular for playing Letisha in the SABC sitcom City Ses’la. She also starred in Home Affairs.

The River is a critics favourite and has won multiple South Africa Television and Film Awards. It was the biggest winner at the recent SAFTAs Awards.
