Former eThekwini mayor back in court for fraud trial
It’s back to court for former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede. She and her 21 co-accused face over 2,000 charges. They range from corruption and attempted corruption, to fraud and money laundering.
The state accuses them of rigging Durban Solid Waste contracts, valued at over 3-hundred million rand. The first witness, Mbuso Ngcobo is expected to continue his testimony. Gumede’s lawyer is arguing proper procedures were not followed leading to the investigation of the tender.
