AKA and Tibz murder case set to return to court

The murder case of slain rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and celebrity chef, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, returns to court on Thursday.

This, after the case was adjourned two months ago, after the five men accused in the matter were denied bail.

Forbes and Motsoane were shot and killed outside a famous restaurant on Florida Road in Durban in February 2023.

Police later revealed that Forbes was the target in the hit.

During the previous proceedings in the high-profile murder case, Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo referred to the State’s evidence before making a ruling in the application for bail.

He pointed to the accused’s failure to dispute cellphone linkages before the killing of Forbes and Motsoane.

He also told the court that the accused had an opportunity to prove that it was in the interest of justice for them to be granted bail but did not.

Hlatshwayo then ruled that based on all the evidence presented in court, the group had a case to answer to.

“In the circumstances, it is the finding of this court that there is a case for the applicants to answer. It is the finding of this court that it would be reckless and irresponsible to allow the applicants on bail.”

Two other accused suspects in the matter are yet to be extradited from Eswatini.

Prophet who ‘predicted’ AKA, Zahara’s death, warns Babes Wodumo

A Zimbabwean-born prophet – who claims he predicted Zahara, AKA, and Costa Titch’s 2023 deaths – has issued a sombre warning about gqom singer Babes Wodumo.

Obey Tichafa Mukanhairi, who also uses the name Mellontik Orasi, shared the message of doom on his popular Facebook page.

PROPHET CLAIMS HE WARNED ZAHARA
Hours after the announcement of Zahara’s untimely passing, Mellontik Orasi claimed her “warned” her of his prophecies.

In a video message, the man known as the “prophet of doom” claimed he personally contacted the singer to issue the warning.

He said: “The problem is, people are filled with doubt. I spoke to Zahara and told her she could preserve her own life.”

Orasi claimed the 36-year-old entertainer told him to “leave me alone.”

Earlier this year, Orasi – who heads up the Mellontik Orasi Ministries in Randburg – claimed he predicted Costa Titch’s death just over a week before his death.

The Amapiano hitmaker – real name Costantinos Tsobanoglou – died after collapsing suddenly on stage over the weekend. The rapper was performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg. He was 28 years old.

Mellontik added that Costa followed in the footsteps of his friend AKA, whom he claimed repeatedly “ignored” his premonitions.

According to Orasi, he has also predicted the deaths of fellow celebs Riky Rick, Shona Ferguson, Jamie Bartlett, and many others.

WARNING TO BABES?
A day after Zahara’s death, the prophet shared another Facebook post aimed at a celebrity.

He shared: “Very gloomy cloud over Babes [Wodumo]. Prayer can preserve life”.

Earlier this year, Orasi warned Babes’ friends to “check on her” amid health concerns.

He shared: “Pray for Babes Wodumo. Substance abuse from this lady that may cause a health scare”.

Lynn Forbes has said that she believes some details around her son AKA’s murder will always remain a mystery. Glammy – as she is affectionately known – was speaking at the Metropolitan Thematic Media Roundtable on Wednesday, 27 September.AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were gunned down on 10 February outside Wish on Florida road in Durban.’

AKA’s mother doubts they’ll ever know who ordered hit on her son

Lynn said that she is not eagerly waiting for answers because she already knows how the Company hitmaker died, further saying she doubts they’ll ever know who the mastermind is. I am not waiting for answers because it will consume me. I am trying to continue and not look for closure because seeing my son die in that video, and seeing what happened to him, was enough closure for me.

“I still remain confident, but it’s not something I wait for. I do think that there will be an arrest on who pulled the trigger, but I am not confident that we will ever know who paid for the bullet,” Lynn said. She also said that information they’ve received as a family about the investigation is the same information the police has been giving to the public.

“To hear information about your son’s murder and not knowing what to make sense of it and the confusion around it – so I do feel like it’s a very tough thing to deal with for me. I guess over time I have learnt that I need to find my way through the toughest times; you need to have resilience. I’m not saying that’s okay. But the information that’s out there is the information I have. I have nothing else. During a police briefing on Tuesday, Police Minister Bheki was questioned about the latest updates on AKA and Tibz’s murder investigation, to which he said “the cars have been found, people have been identified and the firearm used has been found. They are chasing these people and are not far from dealing the final blow to this case,” said Cele.

“This has taken some time for the family, friends, and the nation but he was a well-known figure, AKA. But we request that police be given space to resist the push that might end in breaking their case even before they achieve the proper investigation. But it is continuing.

Earlier this month, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, gave a similar update, adding that they have “downloaded more than 25 cell phones.”
