South Africans react to Somizi stealing Dinner at Somizi’s idea
South Africans woke to realize Somizi is at the centre of a storm that could change how people perceive him as he was accused of stealing an idea, Dinner at Somizi’s.
For starters, the Idols SA judge and media personality recently launched his cook show Dinner at Somizi’s and has so far hosted the likes of DJ Zinhle, Jub Jub, and Cassper Nyovest.
In the show, Somizi takes his hosts to his kitchen, and shows them the ingredients he is going to use while explain in detail.
He cooks in their presence while chit-chatting candid conversations and enjoying themselves along the way.
Somizi serves the meal and the show ends after dinner. Mzansi loves the show for its uniqueness and openness of the conversations as it is not a normal interview set up.
In a twist of events, Somizi has been accused of stealing the idea that was pitched to him by Hastings Moeng.
The media personality is still to respond to the accusations but South Africans have already put him through the court of public opinion. Here are some of the reactions:
On 28 July 2014, Hastings Moeng proposed #DinnerAtSomizis to Somizi & Themba. The description of the show is materially similar to the one now flighted (to the shock of Mr Moeng). See the 2014 email below and decide for yourself. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/QVcpJIAY8o

So let me get this straight, in 2014 Hasting Moeng pitched the “Dinner Kwa Somizi” idea to Somizi with all the elements explaining how the show would work and potential sponsors. Years later Somizi stole that idea without including the person who pitched it to him? That’s evil.

It's time to admit that Ntsiki can tell things to be proven in future. Somizi is on the list. pic.twitter.com/ZGvWkd4Xpe

Ya'll leave Somizi alone……Kanye once said "any creative person knows there is no such thing as an original idea". An idea was born out of an idea so if you aint gonna implement it, im gonna use it. pic.twitter.com/A7qAH3owho

The Somizi thing will be a slight hiccup, things would have gone back to normal by next week. we generally lack a culture of accountability in this country
