#SkeemSaam: Meikie Maputla’s plan backfires

Things are not looking good for Skeem Saam’s Meikie Maputla.

Despite hatching a well-master-minded plan to stay out of prison, it seems everything is working against her.

The testimonies against her, on how she threatened the lives of the Seakamelas, are very strong and could land her behind bars for a while.

But besides the drama on the soapies, that always has us on the edge of our seats, we also have to applaud Skeem Saam for continuing to shine a light on societal issues.

It seems like TV producers and writers have found a pot of gold in raising important issues through edutainment.

Melita’s storyline hits home for many South Africans as they are desperate for employment, and would go to any lengths for it.

This may even mean unknowingly paying scammers with their last cent, only to have their hopes short-lived and going back to square one – being jobless.

The show is doing a great job of raising awareness against job scams.

On Uzalo, justice has finally prevailed for Nosipho, who was abused by her boyfriend Njeza. He was finally arrested.

Let’s hope this is a lesson to people that abusing someone else is never the solution, as Njeza now hates the man he has become. But, self-hate is nothing compared to the pain Nosipho went through. It will be interesting to see if he’ll get a harsh sentence or not.
