Single and searching Enhle Mbali and Berita’s husband bashed for messing up with DJ Black Coffee
Anti-gender-based violence (GBV) supporters gathered outside the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in support of actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, who filed for a protection order against her estranged husband, Nkosinathi “DJ Black Coffee” Maphumulo.
According to papers filed by Enhle at the Randburg Magistrates Court this week, the DJ and producer, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, slapped her on the hand during a tiff.
The actress and fashion designer also claimed in her application for a protection order that it was not the first time that Black Coffee, who turned 45 on Thursday, 11 March, had laid his hand on her.
Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, who is very much single and searching for a fresh boyfriend to replace Black coffee has accused DJ Black Coffee of allegedly assaulting her at her 33rd birthday dinner at their home.
Two months ago, Mlotshwa took to Instagram along with a screenshot from gossip publication ZAlebs, published on 18 February 2021, with the caption “Black Coffee and Enhle finally kiss and make up?” to reveal that she will never kiss and make up with her ex husband, but instead was single and supposedly searching.
“@zalebs nope!! Don’t kill my chance luna. I’m very single, happily so,” declared Mlotshwa in an Instagram story.
She confirmed that he had hit her hand and pushed her after threatening to shut her birthday celebration down by calling the police.
Enhle’s court application read in part: “Two incidents happened this weekend… Friday and Sunday. On the 5th of March he drove into our home and asked to have a conversation that I agreed to. He was polite until we were alone.
“Nathi asked me why I was throwing a dinner without his permission. I then asked why I needed his permission, and he said because it’s his house. I then told him it’s our home and am puzzled, he then threatened to call the cops to shut it down.
“He was at this point shouting… And the guests that had already arrived where (sic) watching.”
Enhle told the court that the second incident took place on Sunday and “it was more aggresive”.
“… he asked me why I had my hand on the door. I asked if he was being serious (sic). HE started raising his voice. I asked him to stop and he hit my hand and pushed me. He continued on shouting this was his house. I asked him to stop fighting… till he left the premises,” read her application.
The Isibaya actress also alleged that Black Coffee would just barge in previously without informing her of his visits.
“I’ve (sic) had to change locks as he would come in anytime even when I was dressed inappropriately and have to leave.
“Nathi has hit me before in 2014 and I saw that same look on his face. He’s scaring me as he is becoming irrational. I do have a scratch on my hand from the incident,” she wrote.
One of her requests to the court was that Black Coffee should only communicate with her via email.
Mlotshwa explained that she had reached out to the court for assistance with a domestic violence case, which she wished to keep quiet for the protection of both herself and her children.
“It is my duty as a woman to not only fight for myself but for every single woman in South Africa,“said the much loved actress.
“The time is now. I believe that this is one step closer to achieving justice for the perpetrators who have subjected women in this country to GBV. By saying that, I am reminded about Reeva Steenkamp and all the other women who have and who are still suffering from GBV,” she said.
Among the supporters was Mlotshwa’s older brother, Themba Mhinga, who said that they wanted justice to be served and for the law to take its course.
Mhinga said it was important for Mbali (Mlotshwa) to feel safe and to be safe therefore as a family they will do their best to be there for her.
“Mbali has been going through a lot of trauma which she does not really voice to anybody. Now that she is finally speaking out about what has been happening we as a family just want to give her the necessary support and be a shoulder to cry on when needed,” he said.
The Star attended the court proceedings but was not allowed to sit in due to a privacy requested by both parties.
A group of supporters from the Ntethelelo Foundation was outside the court wearing white T-shirts with hashtags “Justice for Enhle”, and an image of Mlotshwa printed on the front.
The founder of the organisation, Thokozane Dabada, said they supported victims of GBV and rape, therefore they deemed the support for this case important.
Judgment for the protection order was reserved as both parties will be issued with a summons.
The matter is expected back in court on April 28.
Celebgossip.co.za understands that messing up with Black Coffee is a very dangerous and risky act as it often ends in tears. One such celebrity who can testify to this is husband to musician Berita who seems to have connected the dots and figured out who sent the cops on him.
Last week, Nota Baloyi allegedly got assaulted by cops at his complex, had his phone was taken away from him before he got arrested. The charges against him are for reckless driving and assaulting a police officer.
Nota is set that the police were sent by someone he has beef with, and keep in mind, there are a lot of people he has stepped toes on, “WHO SENT THESE COPS TO ASSAULT ME IN MY OWN HOME? I HAVE OPENED A CASE AGAINST THEM. THEY WILL GET WHAT’S COMING TO THEM!”
He and Black Coffee are not in good terms after Coffee alleged that Baloyi was out to defame him. After being served with a cease and desist letter from Black Coffee’s lawyers, Nota apologised but his apology was then followed with a few harsh words, that he has since edited out from his apology.
If you missed the post, a part of it quoted by Fakaza reads, “As for your claim that I defamed your character I’m sorry to break it to you but it wasn’t me. Your skeletons will come tumbling out the closet and you won’t be able to single handedly stop that. Apologies again and Happy Easter I hope all your children are gifted with your presence and not just presents. Who knows maybe you can start being a exemplary father at 45!”
After his “apology” post, many CelebGossipers came at him on his comments section and he responded to Busiswa who said “uyaphoxa” meaning he is disappointing. He said he is looking out for women who are victims of Gender Based Violence, saying if women are not safe, neither is anyone.
