Sibongile Khumalo to be laid to rest

The funeral of opera and jazz legend Sibongile Khumalo will be held at the Market Theatre. She will be remembered for her mastery of music, being able to move seamlessly between choral, classic and jazz.

Khumalo sang at Nelson Mandela’s inauguration and earned the title ‘First Lady of Song’.

She also famously performed both the South African and New Zealand anthems at the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The singer-composer passed away aged 63.
