Sello Maake Ka Ncube still keen on appearing on local soapies
Despite the drama that followed his exit from Mzansi Magic’s The Queen, Sello Maake Ka-Ncube is still keen to appear in soapies.
Speaking to Daily Sun, he said he wouldn’t be retiring soon as there was no such thing in acting.
“Check Days of our Lives. I’ll retire if I’m forced by dementia. There’s still a lot I want to do and for as long as my breath holds my spirit together, I will,” he said.
“There’s two movies and two TV series I’m working on producing,” the 60-year-old told Daily Sun.
The veteran actor said he didn’t like the way production companies treated actors and had learnt not to entertain people with egos.
“The 39 years I’ve spent in the industry have taught me to know how to save my feelings rather than waste them on people who suffer a chronic delusion of grandeur,” he said.
Sello said the secret to a long career in the entertainment industry was to approach everything with a childlike attitude.
“Everything I’ve laid my hands on as an actor was always approached with a childlike spirit, as with a toddler still trying to crawl and trying to find his journey around the house and eat everything he touches.
“It’s like that with acting too because actors eat characters on the page.
“The secret to longevity is respecting your craft,” he said/
Sello plays Reginald Rex Kwena, a former football player and club owner, on Mzansi Magic’s Vula Vala.
