Scorpion Kings and ShaSha sued
Scorpion Kings and Shasha were booked for the 10th annual carnival in Victoria falls. However, the three failed to make an appearance despite being paid for their appearance. The three artists did not make any communication of any sort with their clients to explain why they never showed up.
The Victoria Falls carnival management team has decided to take the legal route against the performers. The three have been served with documents from lawyers that state the events. According to the statements released to the press, the three did not even send an apology for the no-show.
The statement showed the breakdown of the costs incurred by the carnival anagement team to try and get the artists to victoria falls. The amount covered their hotel bookings, flights, Immigration work permits, and performance fees. The total figure accumulated to R414 147, and they are demanding payback.
They were supposed to perform on the 30th of April 2022, but after not showing up, the management was told that Kabza De Small and Maphorisa had eight gigs they were booked for that Sunday. The DJ pair posted videos of quad biking when their fans were waiting for them at the carnival. Shasha is still to respond to the statement, but fans will only have to speculate, given that Instagram is not active.
This news has been met with mixed reactions from fans, but most of them are negative. Some Tweeps say they are not surprised that Maphorisa did not honour his booking as he is famous for that. Others say that artists should not complain after they stop getting gigs after letting down clients like this. Most of them have complained about not being booked since the Covid pandemic hit the world. Not honouring the bookings they get on an international platform has infuriated many South Africans.
