Scandal!’s Thulani Hlatshwayo appreaciates late Busi Lurayi

Scandal actor Thulani Hlatshwayo has opened up about his role in the eTV’s popular soapie.

Speaking to Sunday World, Thulani who plays Ceejay who’s Busi Lurayi played by Me’Shell’s love interest, has opened up about dating older women. The pair is causing quite a stir in the soapie as they have taken their love to a new level.

Just recently, Me’Shell’s husband beat Ceejay up after he busted him with his wife. Hlatswayo told Sunday World: that he does not think there is a problem with dating older women, but they are manipulative “I don’t think there is a problem with dating older women. They are a lot more heavy-minded people, so it’s easy for them to manipulate one into thinking a certain way and believing things from their end. This is something young men should be aware of at all times.”

He gushed over Lurayi for helping him with his storyline. “I am forever grateful to her for helping me with the storyline, and may her soul rest in peace.”

Lurayi passed away on 10 July 2022 at her Johannesburg residence. The actress had already begun filming on Scandal prior to her death. Speaking on her passing Scandal said it was shuttered.

“At e.tv Scandal! we were shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of Busisiwe Lurayi. Busi was midstream in the portrayal of Me’shell the cougar housewife who pays her fitness trainer, CJ, for additional training on the side! She embraced the role, was doing an amazing job, and was extremely professional to work with. We were keen to present her final work to audiences of Scandal! We are grateful to the Lurayi family for supporting our request,” said Sanele Zulu in a statement sent to TshisaLive.

In the statement, Thuli Thabethe who took over from Lurayi said she is honoured to be taking over the role of Me’Shell from her late friend.

“It is also an honour to be an understudy to such a prolific, talented artist. Busi became the character, I always said, the rest of us would put in work and act but she would become the character. Stepping into the character of Me’Shell who had been played by Busi, I know that I would have big shoes to fill. I am thankful for the opportunity from Scandal! and e.tv for trusting in my ability to continue with the work she started. I am honoured and blessed,” she said.

Sunday World alleged that she was found with visible injuries and blood was allegedly coming out of her mouth.

“If she died of natural causes, then why did she have bruises on her legs and why was blood coming out of her mouth when her father found her lying down in her bedroom? Something is amiss here. We can’t wait to see what the autopsy report says,” said a source.

“She did not have enemies; she was always a jolly person who was loved by the entire universe. If someone harmed her, that will be so shocking because she would never provoke or hurt anyone. The police should do a thorough job here, we need answers. They know what we are talking about,” the source added.
