Scandal actress Botlhale Boikanyo (Omphile) speaks on being a sangoma

Botlhale enjoys Omphile following her Dlozi on set. Actress and poet Botlhale Boikanyo shared how challenging it is to perform a character that involves being initiated on set.

The 21-year-old actress who plays the role of Omphile on ETV soapie Scandal said her role has been filled with the ups and downs that made her tap into spirituality.

The actress from Mahikeng, North West, said she enjoys working on her character as it has taught her the other side of life and what other people with ancestors gift go through such as being blind and having nightmares.

On Sunday,17 July Botlhlale took to Instagram and wrote:”ETV Scandal: Omphile receives a calling. I think storytelling is magical,and the stories we tell truly matter.”
The actress said she enjoys being Omphile on set and it is something she loves portraying.

“This story told through Omphile’s lens is such an important one, a spiritual one-and l’ve been honored to give life to it. It is also one that challenged me as an actor from physicality”Her losing sight, nightmares etc” to portraying her honestly even when her beliefs are different to my own,”she said.

The actress said she is grateful to this character as the response she has been receiving from her fans and viewers have been affirming.

“I have enjoyed the past 2 months jokes about “being blind”when I see you all,”Botlhlale said.

The actress said she will continue to learn and grow on set while telling stories to the whole world.
