SABC 1 Actors Show Mrekza Support As He Launches His Film Studio

The support Generations’ Mrekza received from fellow industry mates is very heartwarming. The launch of his Wyza Media Studios was a huge success and in attendance were a few SABC 1 actors. Generations: The Legacy actor Kope “Tswyza” Makgae has used his artistry to give back to his community in Limpopo. He has started the province’s very first film and television studios called Wyza Media Studios.

The launch was in Polokwane, November 20 and popular faces such as Eric Macheru, Clement Maosa, Junior Singo, Paballo Vundla and Sphola were in attendance. The SABC 1 family from Generations: The Legacy and Skeem Saam showed up to support the actor and musician. There was also a large media presence and his fans could not be any more proud.

Thanking his supporters, the founder wrote, “WYZA media would like to thank everybody who worked towards the success of the launch. We truly appreciate you.”

Speaking to Daily Sun at the time, the actor said he wants people in Limpopo to tell their own stories in their own language. He also added that stories in the province are in abundance however are told by other people because the province does not have the much-needed resources.

Kope currently plays the character Mrekza who is Lucy Diale’s (played by Manaka Ranaka), on-screen husband. Even though he has been acting for a few years now, Mrekza is his most popular role.

This passion project of his has been in the works for over 10 years now. He told the publication that even though money was not a problem for him, he needed sponsors and partners to help get it up and running.

“The aim of this project is to take Limpopo to another level in the film and TV spectrum. I’ve had this dream and have saved money for it. I had no sponsors or partners,” he said.

“This was a sacrifice I was willing to make and reaching my dream is amazing. For example, we have the Kruger National Park and people come and film documentaries here. They can hire equipment from us. They don’t need to bring their own.

“I basically want to uplift Limpopo and teach them about the film and TV industry, hence the school and now the studio. I want to encourage people and teach them about my journey, give those who don’t have access to information help. I also want to show people that I haven’t forgotten about where I come from,” concluded the actor.

The hustler at heart is securing a future for his children, as this is his second project he launched in 2020. In January he opened a film and TV academy called Wyze Media Academy in Limpopo in January.
