The Loliwe hitmaker died on Monday, 11 December after being in hospital for about a month.
On Thursday, 22 December the multi-award-winning singer was remembered at the East London International Convention Centre in the Eastern Cape.
Artists from the Eastern Cape comforted Zahara’s family with harmonious music during the memorial service.
Speakers described her as a humble person who was down to earth and did not use her status to undermine others.
All the artists agreed that the music industry has lost not only a musical icon, but also a source of motivation.
Zahara has released five albums, including her 2011 debut album “Loliwe” which went double platinum. Her music inspired cultural pride and contributed to the promotion and development of the indigenous Xhosa language.
