Rapper Lil Wayne pleads guilty to illegal possession of firearm
Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty in federal court to illegal possession of a firearm. This is coming after the star was charged with one count of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon.
This is as a result of the December 2019 incident, in which Lil Wayne’s plane was searched by federal agents at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. The US rapper potentially faces up to 10 years in prison as a result.
Howard Srebnick, the last lawyer Wayne had chosen to represent him, has opted to keep silent in response to requests for comment.
A report indicated that Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, had reached a plea deal with prosecutors in exchange for leniency, but ultimately his sentence is up to the judge, which in this case is US District Judge Kathleen Williams.
