Pearl Thusi Begs For Help Raising Her Teenage Daughter

South African actress, Pearl Thusi, has mastered almost all aspects of her career, but the one thing that appears to be giving her the most challenges – is raising her eldest daughter, Thando. Whilst the actress seems to have everything under control most of the time, she took to Twitter on Monday, 19 October 2020 to let followers know that everything may not be as easy as it seems.

She tweeted, “Someone should have warned me about the teenage years.” The single mother of two didn’t go into detail about what issues her 13-year-old daughter was causing her, but she followed up by asked fellow parents what their advice would be when raising a teenager. She asked, “What’s the best advice you’ve received for raising teenagers?”.

Pearl was then inundated with responses from fellow parents who appeared to be also struggling with the ‘Terrible Teens’’, who made her feel as though she wasn’t alone. Some of the tweets included, “Make a safe space for your child to be able to talk to you and not be afraid most especially girls. If they fail at something NEVER COMPARE THEM TO ANYONE ELSE BECAUSE YOU WILL LOOSE THEM COMPLETELY. Yes, you might be angry at the results but encourage them always. Accept them,”, and “Strengthen the relationship by even becoming closer to them without invading their space… ask the right questions with the intend to assist them to deal this horrible phase… it’s a tough one… adapt/change your lifestyle to take her through this journey.”

Just last month, Pearl Thusi hosted a birthday party for her daughter, Thandolwethu Mokoena who had celebrated her 13th birthday on Monday, 14 September 2020. Pearl had celebrated the milestone with a touching post on social media reflecting on how it has meant to have a daughter like Thando.

Pearl stated, “My hitta is a teenager… wow. I tried to celebrate your last day as a 12-year-old. You’re actually a 13-year-old now… this is crazy. Where did the time go? I have so much to say … about how proud I am of you, your loving nature, your big heart, you’re the better version of me… and you’re becoming better and better every day… I love you so much. Thank you for being my biggest fan- I know my turn is coming soon as your own star is rising higher and higher. My treasure, my love and my abundant grace from God.”
