IN MEMES | Wow! Fans stunned as MaMkhize's life steps up yet another level

Just when viewers of Kwa MaMkhize reality show thought they were cool with Shauwn Mkhize’s “rich rich” life, they were taken back to square one when they discovered another wing to her mansion and so many other cool features to her house.

The Durban businesswoman’s show has received mixed reviews for its entertainment value and content since it first aired, but the one thing fans won’t front about is how much they wish they could have her “kind” of guap.

Thursday’s episode saw Andile ask for another crazy amount of money and introduced fans to another part of the house they didn’t even know about. But it was the “walk in” fridge that caused commotion on the TL.

The helper’s kitchen looked better than the kitchens fans have seen on Top Billing! That’s how hectic Shauwn’s house is.

“Every time I watch the show, I am reminded that we must all really be here to watch Shauwn Mkhize and her family show us how we should be living life. We’re basically here to watch them then die,” one tweep said.

With the coronavirus now in SA, some fans even felt like the way Shawn’s house is set up, she could provide a venue for quarantine and people in the same house would never even bump into each other.

Keke Mphuthi: Being a mom is the best thing that ever happened to me

Relatively new mom and actress Keke Mphuthi has applauded fellow actress Gabisile Tshabalala for her #SoWhatImPregnant campaign, which advocates for the rights of pregnant women in the workplace.

Keke told TshisaLIVE that the campaign was close to her heart, because she herself had allegedly gone through a “discriminatory” experience at her previous workplace. In a fiery Twitter thread in 2019, Keke detailed alleged mistreatment by Ferguson Films, something she experienced while she was pregnant with her son.

“This was a very brave move of hers, I applaud her and I am for it … It’s very disheartening that as a woman, you have to put yourself a step or two down from what a man is or does in our industry. It is disheartening because we are bearers of fruit and it is natural. Being pregnant is neither a sin or taboo, so I am proud of Gabi for standing up and helping others find their voices as well.”

While she chose not to comment extensively on the legalities that were involved in her situation with the Fergusons, she said that she wasn’t the kind of person to hold grudges and that her career was in nobody’s hands but God.

“At this point in time, I feel like God knows best and the productions that would like to work with me, I would like to work with them. Those that feel that my coming out was a sign of malicious intent towards the Fergusons, that is not the case. I do not have anything against them any more and I don’t hold grudges. I guess they did what they felt was best at that point in time,” she told TshisaLIVE.

Speaking on the allegations at the time, the Fergusons said they would deal with the matter legally. However, their lawyer Brendan de Kooker told TshisaLIVE that the actress wasn’t served as he advised his clients that their rights were still reserved and that any legal action would occur only if there was ever a development in the situation that called for it.

Keke added that being a mother was the best thing that ever happened to her.

“Being a mom has been the greatest duty to God and in my life ever. I would not have traded the way in which I found out about my pregnancy, the way my child was conceived or the way in which he came into the world and the aftermath (thereof) for anything. For my child, I am willing to go into this fiery pit once more.

The actress is a great believer that God does what he does and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. Her latest work can be seen on Lloyiso’s music video for the song Intliziyo featuring Langa Mavuso, where she plays the leading role of a woman whose heart is left shattered by her husband’s sudden death.

“I felt that it was a bit unfair that people had opinions about something they knew nothing about”

Actress Pabee Moganedi joined TshisaLIVE in studio recently and revealed how badly she was affected by the backlash when she started dating actor SK Khoza.

Opening up about her relationship for the first time, Pabee explained that even though it wasn’t easy when she and SK first went public with their relationship, they survived because they chose each other.

“I am in a relationship with a beautiful man with a big heart and we met in the workspace. We weren’t friends initially, we just bumped into each other on set and would see each other at events for promotional reasons of the show.

“And until at some point, we ended up being each other’s date at one of the events and it was a beautiful moment.”

When SK and Pabee first started dating, their relationship hogged headlines as speculation swirled that he had left his baby mama for Pabee.

She explained that the backlash started affecting her career as an actress.

“I’m normally a strong girl who can give two flying kites about people’s opinions but I feel that this was an obstacle for me, because it now started to affect my bread and by that I mean I was now getting blacklisted in my workspace for something I felt was unrelated to the way I do my job.

“And whether or not you agreed on my relationship … I mean, nobody knew what was going on and I felt that it was a bit unfair that people had opinions about something they knew nothing about.”

Despite the negativity they initially faced, Pabee said that she and SK were going strong.

From moghel to mogul! Bonang shares her feels over Forbes Africa cover

From moghel to mogul! Bonang shares her feels over Forbes Africa cover

It looks like it’s only a matter of time until Bonang Matheba’s dreams to move “from moghel to mogul” becomes an indisputable reality.

The media personality and businesswoman recently made it into Forbes Africa’s March issue, which celebrates the Africa’s 50 most powerful women. That, in addition to all the money-moves she’s already made this year, is just more proof that moghel is steady on her way to being a media mogul.

“It is a great honour to be on the cover of such a prestigious magazine with other esteemed women from across Africa at such an important time for women in our continent’s development.”

Bonang added that the many challenges that women in Africa endure, including the scourge of gender-based violence, were difficult but simultaneously part of the reason African women always stepped up and showed up. She said the calibre of women included in the Forbes Africa issue was the ultimate squad of women that could and would help find solutions that will help Africa.

“We have numerous challenges, including gender-based violence and girl’s education, but I believe that we as empowered African women can play an incredibly powerful role in creating robust, harmonious and successful future societies,” Bonang said in a statement shared by her management.

Adding more impressive items on her long list of achievements, Bonang will be the first-ever keynote speaker at SLAY Festival in Johannesburg — a one-day learning and networking event for young professional women, that moghel is passionate about.

“I’m thrilled to be the keynote speaker at SLAY Festival. It is an incredible opportunity for young women to get together to hear real talk, honest conversations and learn real world skills in order to realise their dreams and their potential and, of course, to have a fun day out to good music, good food, and great vibes.”

One thing that’s clear is that Bonang has always had her eye on the prize and she knows how to get it. More than that, she looks amazing while doing it!

In 2019, Bonang visited the Scenic Drive team on Jacaranda FM and shared why she thinks she is so successful.

“It’s a mix of talent, perseverance, a lot of prayers, hard work and that thing in entertainment — that X-factor,” Bonang told Rian van Heerden.

Somizi who told South Africa that Zahara loves beer too much, has learnt not to mess with her

Somizi who told South Africa that Zahara loves beer too much, has learnt not to mess with her

For those of you who missed the commotion of Zahara at popular tshisa nyama, Rands in Cape Town, the singer was simply living her best life. So much so, she was a trending topic on socials.

Zahara was living it up, standing front and center for all to see her jiva in front of a cheering crowd. She wasn’t there to perform but she was there to turn up. However, once a video of Zahara grabbing the mic to sing along to the DJs playlist, social media went a bit haywire.

Is this another case of cyberbullying for a woman who is minding her own business? Some of you seem to think so:

Even Somizi jumped into the drama to put a stop to the shenanigans.

Somizi noticed that Zahara is serving up serious goals this year and he’s here for it. Taking to his Instagram account, the entertainer gushed about how he loves the woman that the award-winning singer is becoming. He showed support for her and also called on his fans to do the same.

Somizi has reason to admire Zahara, she went through a tough time in 2019 but rose from the ashes in the most splendid and inspiring way. The singer is showing heaps of confidence, motivating her fans to embrace themselves, and her new fashionable appearance has us all in awe.

It appears Somizi has learnt the hard way not to mess up with Zahara, even during lighter moments of laughter. In 2017, Somizi earned himself a hefty lawsuit after joking over Zahara’s alcoholic trend.

“i only wish what i heard apon [upon] my return from Swaziland #BushfireFestival this past weekend about what Somizi said at the SAMAS is not true! because if he did i am Suing Somizi and the SAMAs for deformation of character i am tired of this,” (sic).

Perhaps Zahara meant ‘defamation of character, a term that is used to describe when false statement is written or spoken about an individual with the intent of harming or slandering their reputation.

This is the statement that landed Somgaga in hot water, during the South African Music Award ceremony.

“We are almost at the end of the show and there’s an amazing after party, free bar…where is Zahara ( audience roars in laughter). She’s probably at the bar already”, he joked.

During his slot on Metro FM breakfast show, this morning Somizi apologised or maybe not: “If she’s offended, askies Zahara! It was only a joke,” he said.

His co-presenter DJ Fresh asked if this was an official apology, he said: “No, it’s not an official apology.”

“I will settle out of court,” he continued.

In 2016, Zahara threatened to take legal action against True Love magazine for their misleading headline, which left the singer very unhappy.

The headline read: “Zahara: marriage, drugs and selling records.”

The publication, which had a lot of controversy in 2016, left Zahara disappointed and she wanted to sue the magazine for a whooping R3 million.

“I honestly hope this is a sick joke from @truelovemagazine, how dare they put this type of headline on their cover! Why associate me with drugs?!” she wrote on Instagram.

It was later reported that the publication vowed to stand by their cover and would never apologise.

Viewers of Boity Thulo‘s reality show can’t decide if they love or hate Bobby, whose dramatic nature is becoming too much for most of the TV presenter-turned-rapper’s fans. From the beginning, fans have had issues understanding Bobby’s role in Boity’s life. It has since become more confusing for them because it doesn’t seem as if Bobby knows he’s “staan plek”.

Wednesday night’s episode left tweeps shook after they watched Bobby fail to follow simple instructions. How does a person book a flight that lands at 6.25 and a connecting flight that leaves at 6:20? Haai … there he left tweeps confused.

However, there were a few tweeps who were there for Bobby and all his drama. Fans felt the show needed Bobby to spice things up because without him, all that’s left is Boity talking about her dog and lending her mom her clothes. This wouldn’t make for a very entertaining show.

This is Why Uzalo’s viewership keeps skyrocketing

This is Why Uzalo’s viewership keeps skyrocketing

If you have been wondering why Uzalo’s viewership has skyrocketed, it’s all because the soapie prides itself with a simple storyline and characters that ordinary people can relate to. When the show started in 2015, it hit the five-million mark in terms of viewership. From then it grew to nine million viewership; but its biggest highlight was clocking 10.2- million, becoming the most-watched television show in SA in 2018.

According to the show’s creative director Mmamitse Thibedi, it wasn’t that difficult to achieve the feat because from the onset they decided that they would only explore organic storylines and have characters that speak to their audience.

“We try to keep it very close home and the stories, our stories, are organic and relatable. We are trying to bring our characters close to our viewers. We don’t design characters that people cannot relate to,” Thibedi said.

She explained that in December, the numbers went down but they were not shaken because all shows suffer at that time. “It drops for everyone because of the holidays. At the end of January, it picks up again. We keep a very close eye on the numbers and we make sure we respond appropriately.

Over the past years, Uzalo’s storyline has opened a debate on special network, with people complaining that it was difficult to follow and not making sense at times. The soapie had many viewers talking with its multiple-cheating episodes. It all started with the story of Mamlambo marrying Nkunzi, her best friend’s husband.
