Maps Maponyane recently waltzed into the dirty thirties in style and pizzazz! The TV personality celebrated his 30th birthday surrounded by his close friends and family, who threw him a lavish birthday surprise.

Maps is one of the most successful male personalities in South Africa, the TV host has been in the entertainment industry for a couple of years, he started his career off as a model and he has since managed to branch into fashion, acting and presenting.

The star also has a famous eatery Buns Out, and he has since been exposed to finer things in life, that his work has to offer. We look forward to seeing what the big 30 will offer him in life.

Despite the coronavirus crisis, they still gathered to show some love to Maps, and this shows how true of friends are they.

Hulisani Ravele has been the most gracious and respectful ex since splitting from her long-term boyfriend Sipho Ngwenya aka Pysfo (who also goes by the name Sidwell!) back in 2017. The Zion Christian Church (ZCC) called off all services relating to the popular Good Friday service pilgrimage.

The church on Tuesday evening issued circular to its church councils stating that its leader Bishop, Barnabas Engenas Lekganyane, was appealing to members not to come to Moria from this coming weekend, as previously scheduled.

The church called off the Good Friday service after President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday declared a state of disaster following the coronavirus outbreak. Ramaphosa further announced that to curb the spread of the deadly virus, gatherings of more than 100 people would be prohibited.

However, the ZCC circular, written in Sepedi and addressed to councils of the minister, preachers, youth and other church members, did not give reasons why the services had been cancelled.

In the statement, ZCC said church members who were due to start heading to the church’s headquarters in Moria, to help with preparations for the pilgrimage, which is one of the country’s single-largest gatherings, should not come.

“Writing on behalf of His Grace Bishop Bishop B.E. Lekganyane together with the council of his office,” read the statement, “We would like to let you know that from the weekend of 21 – 22 March, the church choir and (mekhukhu), that were supposed to help with the church service preparations on the weekend of 28 – 29 March 2020, along with the Sunday school members and all church singers, that they should not come to Moria until further notice.

“We appeal that you obey our instructuion and wait for further instruction from Moria. We hope that you will peacefully accept our notice,” read the statement.

A man is behind bars in Kimberley after he allegedly raped his four-year-old son, Northern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Lt-Col Dimakatso Mooi said the man had allegedly raped the preschooler on Saturday while the child was visiting him.

“The matter was brought to the police on March 16 after the child informed the daycare personnel what happened,” said Mooi.

The man was arrested and is expected to appear in the Galeshewe magistrate’s court soon. He will face a charge of rape

Local actress Pearl Thusi thanked her fans for the ongoing support for “Queen Sono”, the first African produced Netflix original series.

While reviews for “Queen Sono” have been a mixed bag, it seems that there is still a possibility for a second season.

Taking to her Twitter page recently, Thusi thanked her fans for streaming the show and said that “Queen Sono” is “still doing very well” and that she’ll let them know if it gets renewed for a second season.

Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo has been tested for the coronavirus, the prominent media personality got checked for the deadly virus after complaining of chest pains and coughing.

The star was attended to at a private medical centre and shared a video of the process, however he bemoaned the prohibitive cost of the test.

In the video, he could be seen talking to those attending to him; “So guys I am at a private hospital to do tests for the coronavirus…but also like my chest, I am coughing so you never know”.

Forgetting about all his flamboyant lifestyle, Somizi was left heart-broken and worried after noticing how much the test cost, this saw him wondering what happens to those who cannot afford.

“But then I get here and I ask how much it is and they go ‘a thousand four, a thousand five’. That broke my heart. I asked what happened to people who can’t afford it and they say ‘no there are public hospitals,” he said.

He called on the relevant authorities to do something about the issue, saying otherwise more lives would be lost and advised that mobile clinics be instituted at affordable prices or even free of charge.

“I feel that something needs to be done about this. Even if I can afford it I think it’s too much (money) and I think they should start putting things in place because it might get worse and we are ready for it,” he added.

Somizi urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to chip in and see to it that something is done in order to make the tests more affordable.

“I think this is where the Department of Health and the Presidency needs to step in and really do something about it because not everyone has access to proper clinics and hospitals and I do not think that people should pay to get tested for something like this,” he said.
