World's first coronavirus vaccine registered, President Putin's daughter already treated!

Russia registered the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine, President Vladimir Putin said, marking a milestone in the fight against the against the novel coronavirus but amid raising safety concerns in the West over the country’s accelerated clinical evaluations.

Russian officials have compared Tuesday’s registration of the vaccine with its health ministry to the Cold War-era space race, and Moscow hopes the landmark event will return some prestige to the country’s proud scientific legacy inherited from the Soviet Union.

The conditions of the vaccine’s development, however, have raised concerns in Moscow and in the West over the safety of the vaccine and fears that the Kremlin is sacrificing the safety of its citizens.

Scientists at the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute have employed military testing, accelerated clinical evaluations and shortened test-trial times in an attempt to be first with a vaccine. Russia hopes to use it in a massive immunization rollout at home and export it abroad.

“We should be grateful to those who have taken this first step, which is very important for our country and the whole world,” Mr. Putin told a government meeting, a Kremlin transcript showed.

“I hope we can start a massive release of this vaccine soon,” he said, adding that one of his daughters had taken the vaccine.

Speaking at a government meeting on Tuesday, Putin said that the vaccine has proven efficient during tests, offering a lasting immunity from the coronavirus.

Putin said that his daughter had a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on the day of the first vaccine injection, and then it dropped to just over 37C on the following day.

After the second shot she again had a slight increase in temperature.

“She’s feeling well and has a high number of antibodies,” Putin added. He didn’t specify which of his two daughters received the vaccine.

The Health Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the vaccine is expected to provide immunity from the coronavirus for up to two years.

Russian authorities have said that medical workers, teachers and other risk groups will be the first to be inoculated.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that the vaccination of doctors could start as early as this month.

Large-scale production of the vaccine will start in September, and mass vaccination may begin as early as October, officials said.

Professor Alexander Gintsburg, head of the Gamaleya institute that developed the vaccine, raised eyebrows in May when he said that he and other researchers tried the vaccine on themselves.

Human studies started on June 17 among 76 volunteers. Half were injected with a vaccine in liquid form and the other half with a vaccine that came as soluble powder. Some in the first half were recruited from the military, which raised concerns that servicemen may have been pressured to participate.

Amid Russia’s rush to become the first to create a vaccine, the US, Britain and Canada last month accused Russia of using hackers to steal vaccine research from Western labs.

Despite not completing Phase 3 trials, Putin insisted the vaccine has undergone the necessary tests.

Zodwa Wabantu left in tears after Ben10 duped her
Social butterfly and dance queen, Zodwa Wabantu, claims she has opened a case of fraud against her Ben 10 Vusi Buthelezi.

In a short video clip posted on her Instagram page, Zodwa Wabantu claims Vusi used her name fraudulently to acquire an endorsement car from Audi and that the police are on his tail.

But the cougar has been criticized as a bitter ex by the public because she posted the video a few hours after Vusi posted pictures of him and his new beautiful bae, with the caption, “Happy Women’s Day Queen”, enjoying a meal at an undisclosed restaurant.

Born Zodwa Rebecca Libram, Zodwa Wabantu, says she has put out a reward for the person who can handover Vusi over to her or the police station.

She said she couldn’t believe that Vusi would hurt her as she bought him a R20 000 cellphone, an R18000 watch, expensive sneakers and Polo T-shirt when they were still lovers.

“Vusi, I’m not scared of you, I was f$&ng you, the police are looking for you and anyone who sees this fraudster….I can’t believe that I was f&$ng a fraudster,” she said.

Welcome Hlatshwayo (46) overpowers death, rises from the 'dead' in coronavirus miracle

Welcome Hlatshwayo went to battle with a monster, and narrowly escaped the clutches of death.

This is how the 46-year-old described his recent three-week battle with the Covid-19 coronavirus, a virus that has infected more than 538 000 people in the country so far and had claimed nearly 10,000 lives so far.

“I’m coming [back] from the dead,” Hlatshwayo told City Press this week. “It’s by the grace of God I’m alive and He gave me a second chance to live – I nearly died.”

His fight with Covid-19 landed him in the intensive care unit at Mediclinic Midstream in Centurion for six days. He was hooked up on a ventilator, which he credits for saving his life. But the construction company owner feels real conversations need to be taken after he witnessed the disparities in the quality of healthcare in two provinces where he sought help, and between the public and private health sectors. He was discharged from hospital last week. Rewind to three weeks ago. Hlatshwayo was working on a school building project in Kokstad in KwaZulu-Natal. He said he travelled to Port Shepstone to buy building supplies and, before entering the shop, a clerk told him to buy a face mask. He also wore a face shield.

In hindsight, Hlatshwayo said he must have contracted the virus during the exchanges he had while buying and putting on that mask.

“From the moment I put that mask on, it was as though something went straight up my nose and was piercing. I figured it was dust that I had inhaled as the masks were quite dusty,” Hlatshwayo said.

Within days, Hlatshwayo said he started feeling feverish.

“I did everything – mhlonyane, onions, garlic and ginger [concoctions], steaming and your ACC 200 [which treats symptoms of sinusitis], but they weren’t helping. I consulted a doctor in Port Shepstone and was given a prescription for medication to use while we awaited my Covid-19 test results,” he said.

His results came back positive three days later. He decided to travel back to his home in Standerton in Mpumalanga.

“My son Thami drove me home to Standerton and, within three days of me being home, I started developing worse symptoms. I started coughing blood, and that’s when my family took me to the government hospital there. I was admitted for one night and placed on oxygen,” he said.

As his health deteriorated, the lack of resources at the hospital led him and his family to decide to move him to a private hospital in Centurion.

“I could tell I would not receive the care I needed there as it [the hospital] was plagued by load shedding. When I needed to take a bath the next morning, there was no hot water.

“Imagine, being sick and having to bath in cold water … I had to pay cash for admission at the other hospital in Centurion because I didn’t have medical aid. I’m fortunate that I did have enough money to pay, because if I don’t think I would have survived,” Hlatshwayo added.

“Government is busy digging graves instead of buying ventilators and equipment that can save [the lives of] sick people in small hospitals, like in my town. I was helped by money, but what about others who cannot afford that and get to a hospital with no oxygen support for them?”

Soccer star Bongani Zungu and actress Cindy Mahlangu are a couple
Soccer player Bongani Zungu and actress Cindy Mahlangu have made their relationship Instagram official. Well, sort of.

Fans started suspecting they were an item after witnessing their flirty exchanges on Instagram live streams.

The pair were recently spotted kissing and being affectionate via Instagram stories.

In the story, Mahlangu can be seen enjoying a snack and dancing along to a tune before the Bafana Bafana star midfielder comes up behind her, lightly holds her neck and plants a kiss near her mouth.

The Blood & Water actress then exasperatedly says “babe!” before the video cuts.

Zungu, who has been playing in the top French league for Amiens SC has been home since the coronavirus pandemic began and was recently let go from Amiens SC.

Last year, Zungu’s ex-fiance, Khanyi Cele, trended after she began a live stream while clearly intoxicated and admitted that Zungu had been unfaithful to her. She then dared women to go for him as he was an easy target and asked them to capture their attempts on film.

According to reports, Cele was in conversation with two other women in the background – said to be her mother and aunt – who were evidently egging her on.

When one of them told Khanyi that women who did try to take up the challenge to make a sex tape would not be successful, she said they would be.

She said: “Bazomthola [they will get him], but I want them to take a video while they’re doing it. Nothing more you’ll get from it, thank God Instagram doesn’t know that I’m cursing.

Even if he proposes to them, I’m not trying to fight any hoe for anything.”

According to two reliable sources, Madisakwane, who was part of the now-defunct Generations, is said to have started shooting on Friday.

Another mole said that Madisakwane will play the role of Dr Rose Shongwe. “It’s not a big role. She’ll be there for a certain period. This is why I’m not in a position to disclose how long she will be staying with Isibaya. “It’s good for her to make a comeback as we know that acting is her first love,” added the mole.

The King is dead – Its the end of the road for Imbewu’s Ngcolosi

The King is dead – Its the end of the road for Imbewu’s Ngcolosi

It’s the end of the road for Imbewu’s Ngcolosi and everyone is left asking: who did it?

The King is dead – Its the end of the road for Imbewu's Ngcolosi

When it comes to sibling rivalries, few come close to the never-ending turbulent relationship between Bhengu brothers Zimele “Ngcolosi” (Tony Kgoroge) and Phakade (Sandile Dlamii).

Since the soapie started in 2018, they have fought over money, women and children causing the cavernous divide between the two to widen. Sadly it seems that some things just can’t be forgiven..

By now it’s no secret: Phakade had an affair with Mazulu (Leleti Khumalo), his own brothers wife.

In what could easily be considered the worst kept secret practically everyone knew of Ngcolosi’s wife’s latest betrayal-except him.

TATTLE TALE

Ngcolosi isn’t kept in the dark for much longer though,A vindictive Thokozile is dead-set on spilling the beans before Mazulu can confess her sins herself.

“She delivers the news on purpose and puts it in a way that will sound like she is doing everyone a favor,” explains Tony.

Naturally the bsiness man is furious. “As you van imagine, finding out that your brother and wife had an affair isn’t something one would accept lightly,” Tony insists.

“Ngcolosi is very angry and is thinking with his hear and not his mind. He somehow thinks that by confronting Phakade, he will get the answers he needs. Why him? Why again? Why now?”

TAKING A HIT

With hatred in his heart, Ngcolosi grabs a gun and heads to Phakade’s home. But thingd don’t go as planned, not that Ngcolosi had a plan to begin with. While driving, a bakkie comes speeding up to Ngcolosi’s car and a hail of bullets hit him. Seconds later, a bloodied Ngcolosi is dragged from his car by his bodyguard Nkululeko who was trying to catch up to his father-boss before the shooting. When asked about the apparent hit, Tony remains tight-lipped: “Lets just say it’s being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Ngcolosi is rushed to hospital but things aren’t looking good as his heart stops as he’s first brought in.Maulu and tha rest of the Bhengu family are waiting for news and are optimistic, says Tony.

“His wife is very hopeful. The whole family too. They are hoping to see Dad up and about again because they know he is a fighter. Sadly there does’t seem to be much fight left in Ngcolosi on Frday 4 August.

Mazulu is asked to do the unthinkable: Switch off his life support as there is nothing the doctors can do for the now brain-dead Ngcolosi

“Like any wife or family member no one is ever ready for such.It is not something you even want to think about,” says Tony. “She is deeply hurt, especially by being the person who mst end Ngcolis’s life.”

The Devil You Know

News of Ngcolosi’s death sends shocking waves through town and the business world, with everyone theorising about who ordered the killing. Could it hve been Phakade, having been warned of his gun-toting brother’s imminent arrival “NO! He would never lay a hand on his baby brother,” Perhaps Ngcolosi’s cheating wife? Tony admits that there’s always a possibility.

“It could be self-defence or the fact that she wanted to be free from him Who knows? Maybe for insurance?”

On the business front Shria(Kajal Maharaj) has been more than eager to get her hands on Bhengu company shares for weeks. Add her unwavering belief that Ngcolosi had a hand in her Pranav’s death in July this year, and Shria had the motivation for assassination order.Regardless, Tony reminds us that there is still lots of drama on the way, especially when it comes to Ngcolosi’s funeral.

“What would be a Bhengu gathering be without drama?”
