Nomzamo Mbatha reacts to Isibaya cast wishing her goodbye: "I'm weeping!"

Eight years ago, a young and very energetic Nomzamo Mbatha joined the cast of Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya and since then, viewers have fallen in love with her on- and off-screen.

Her storyline followed a young woman whose father was a polygamist and faced the challenges of that family’s setup. But more than anything, her love story with the enemy’s handsome son, Sibusiso Ndlovu (played by Sdumo Mtshali), has gripped the nation – we all want some of that magical love.

In last night’s episode, viewers’ hearts broke when her character, Thandeka, died. Not only did she touch the hearts of millions of South Africans, but she had a special place in her fellow cast members’ hearts too.

To bid her farewell, the Isibaya cast sat down and spoke about how working with the beauty has been.

Muzi Mthabela (Duma) “Nomzamo Mbatha, what a beautiful woman. Well done, I’m so proud of you. Go forth and keep that light shining.”

Thembi Nyandeni (Mkabayi) “For me it’ll never be a farewell because you’ll always be in my heart, you’re my baby.”

Jessica Nkosi (plays Qondi) “All the best for everything you’re doin., I’m so proud of how far you’ve come, as an actress and as an industry personality.”

Sdumo Mtshali (plays Sibusiso) “I want to wish you the best in everything you do, on and off the camera. Some of the stuff you’re doing back home is incredible and inspiring, you’re inspiring. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us because you keep surprising us all the time.”

After hearing the touching messages from her colleagues, an emotional Nomzamo tweeted:

“Nkosyam I’m weeping at this unexpected & heartbreakingly beautiful surprise. Ngiyabonga to my friends… my family. What a journey. Thank you for raising & challenging me into becoming the performer that I am today. It’s not goodbye, it’s a see you later Red heart #ISIBAYA #Thandeka”
