Livhuwani Madadzhe, popularly known as SABC Livhu, a well-known comedian from Limpopo, is currently out on bail as he faces charges of murdering his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela. The tragic incident occurred earlier this year when Lindelani’s body was discovered in a pit. Livhu, who was once beloved for his humor, recently shared photos on social media, including one where he appeared to be dining at a restaurant and another featuring Grammy Award-winning singer Nomcebo Zikode. However, the pictures sparked controversy, with people expressing their disapproval of Nomcebo associating herself with an alleged murderer.
In the circulating images, Livhu captioned the photo with Nomcebo, stating, “Me and my favorite artist, Nomcebo Zikode. I know those who hate me will feed her with false and misleading information because I’m very rich and successful in life.” Following the backlash, Nomcebo faced criticism for posing with Livhu, although her team denies having any knowledge of his ongoing murder case.
It has been alleged that Livhu subjected his wife to years of abuse, with Lindelani forgiving him and dropping charges against him on previous occasions. In 2021, Lindelani accused Livhu of subjecting their 12-year-old daughter to inhumane treatment by locking her in a dog kennel, resulting in injuries caused by the animal. She also claimed that Livhu physically and emotionally abused her and brought other women into their home in her presence. Despite these serious allegations, Lindelani eventually reconciled with Livhu and even posted a video on social media, asking supportive fans to stay out of their private matters.
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, confirmed that Livhu was released on bail of R1,000. However, after his court appearance, Lindelani withdrew the charges against him. Tragically, her body was discovered floating in an unused pit toilet the following day. Livhu was subsequently arrested as a suspect and granted bail of R50,000. The case has been postponed to September 29 to allow for further police investigation.
Regarding the controversial photo, Nomcebo’s management team clarified that they were unaware of Livhu’s ongoing murder case and vehemently oppose femicide. They explained that Livhu approached them while they were eating at a restaurant, requesting a photo. They emphasized that Nomcebo never declines to take pictures with her fans, and it is common for people they have encountered multiple times to have archived pictures with them. Nomcebo’s team stated that they do not know Livhu personally, and in the photo, they were engaged in a brief interaction. After taking the pictures, they promptly left. Nomcebo has no intention of collaborating with Livhu and wishes to distance herself from the association.
Nomcebo’s team expressed their well wishes to the family of Livhu’s deceased wife, hoping they find peace and healing during this difficult time. They acknowledged that Livhu was once beloved and considered a superstar by his fans in Venda, but the criminal allegations have significantly tarnished his reputation. They speculated that Livhu’s decision to post the pictures may have been an attempt to regain relevance. Nomcebo’s team has reached out to Livhu, requesting the removal of the posts and urging him not to fabricate stories about working with Nomcebo.
