Longwe Twala is reportedly back on the streets and on drugs
Longwe Twala, the son of legendary musician and producer Chicco Twala, is reportedly back on the streets and on drugs again after returning home from rehab.
According to Zimoja, a source revealed that his father is devastated but his brother — Twala Twala — is not shocked at all by this behaviour. The unnamed source revealed to the publication that Longwe is back on the streets as he is using drugs once again and Chicco has given up on him.
“Nobody knows what happened to him to ditch his home and go back to drugs. His family, especially his father Chicco is devasted,” said the source.
When asked about his brother, Twala Twala said: “We are not surprised, Longwe has been on drugs his entire life so there is nothing to comment on there.
Longwe, who has made headlines as one of the six people present the night Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down in October 2014, has been linked to drugs before. However, his father revealed in November 2022 that he was out of rehab.
Speaking to journalist Motso Modise outside the Pretoria High Court on 15 November 2022, Chicco said that the police had been struggling to find his son as he had been in rehab.
Chicco revealed that Longwe was out of rehab and was getting ready to take the witness stand.
Longwe’s name featured during the cross-examination of Meyiwa’s friend, Tumelo Madlala, in November last year during the murder trial.
According to defence counsel for accused number one to four, Timothy Thobane, Madlala’s statement alleged that Longwe was the one who shot and killed Meyiwa.
The statement read: “I was for the first time to see Longwe Twala, and I did not tell anyone or the Meyiwa family that Senzo was killed by Longwe Twala because he did not have a firearm with him, instead he ran away [sic].”
However, when questioned about his statement, Madlala claimed that he did not write it but a police officer did. This despite having agreed before giving his response that indeed he signed and approved all his statements. According to Zimoja, another Senzo Meyiwa documentary is on the cards and it reportedly features musicians Kelly and Zandie Khumalo, their mother Ntombi Khumalo and Meyiwa’s friends, Mthokozisi Twala and Tumelo Madlala. Longwe will also feature in it.
The documentary, which is titled Senzo Meyiwa: The Second Docket, is produced and directed by Zakhele Shiba and Lucky Dumakude who revealed that Longwe was sober when they interviewed him.
They, however, did not want to comment on allegations he is back on drugs: “This is a personal matter and has nothing to do with the coming documentary.
