Lerato Mvelase Speak :Getting Our Kids To Speak Our Languages
Entertainer Lerato Mvelase has urged guardians to open their children to their home dialects so they don’t deny them of a significant part of their personalities. The entertainer and TV host of relationship-themed unscripted TV drama, Seng’khathele, took to her online life to share the significance she puts on her local language as a mother and how she feels guardians should step up to the plate and guarantee that their children know their own dialects.
“Huge numbers of us guardians realize that it is so difficult to get our youngsters to talk their native language. They go through hours at school communicating in one language and when guardians return home from work we are worn out to guarantee that children talk our primary language,” she said.
Lerato made a point to tell guardians that her words were not originating from a position of judgment. Rather, she wanted for guardians to see the incentive in guaranteeing that their children know their own dialects since it was a significant piece of what their identity is.
“This post isn’t to censure us guardians yet rather to urge us to see the significance of not looting our offspring of something that makes them what their identity is. Attempt one hour of communicating in a home language and every week increment the hours. To guardians who demand and hit the nail on the head.
