Lerato Moloi On Why It Took Her 6 Years To Open A Case of Sexual Assault and Rape Against Toll A$$ Mo
When it comes to sexual assault issues it takes a lot for one to open up to another person or let alone report the incident. Lerato Moloi, is the latest celeb to break the silence about her experiences and it took her years to do so.
The model and actress, took to social media in June to speak about her own traumatic experiences of sexual harassment. Lerato, named comedian Mongezi “Tol A$$ Mo” Ngcobondwane as her abuser. She was then arrested after refusing to take down the tweet after a period of 24 hours.
A lot of people always want to know why it takes victims of sexual assault such a long time to report their cases. Lerato has cited a number of reasons why she took her time.
“For numerous reasons, I did not open a case at the time and only shared this experience with one of the other participants on the show. The trauma, guilt and shame of the assault has left me with immeasurable emotional scars for the past 6 years,” Lerato said.
Lerato also explained why a lot of gender based violence victims take time to report and open up. On he part, she was discouraged by those close to her and management because the truth will be too uncomfortable to handle. She was also told exposing her rapist will affect his wife who was pregnant at the time.
