Khanyi Mbau’s Cars Get Repossessed by The Bank
Standard Bank has allegedly gotten the court’s approval to repossess media personality Khanyi Mbau‘s two luxury sports cars, after she failed to keep up with the monthly instalments. The news first broke two months ago where the bank was still in the process of getting the two instalment sales agreements cancelled, and having Khanyi’s cars repossessed.
The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown which was a result of it, proved its negative effects to the economy and ZAleb’s pockets once again.
According to City Press’s latest developments, Khanyi Mbau failed to respond to the court papers that were handed to her on time. The German cars in question are a 2015 Porsche 912 Carrera and a 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG.
“Take note that the applicant intends to make application to the above honourable court for an order in the following: confirming the cancellation of the following instalment sale agreement, that the respondent shall immediately return the following assets to the applicant; 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG with engine number… and 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS PDK 911,” reads the notice of motion, as quoted by Sunday World a month ago.
Khanyi responded to the publications’ questions by saying she never received the court papers on time, hence missing the deadline to respond to them.
After allegedly missing two months’ worth of payment, her accounts are in arrears and with the court taking the bank’s side, she has to hand over her cars. The actress and radio personality had advised the bank last month that she sold the Mercedes-Benz before receiving any court orders.
She was also confused by the bank wanting to repossess her Porsche as she claims that she was only one month in arrears.
“I obviously don’t know why they couldn’t pick it up that I have sold the car. I think there is a misunderstanding here. I will talk to them next week, because it’s already a weekend, to understand why they have done that,” she told the publication at the time.
The cars apparently cost R1.5 million each and the reality star was allegedly paying approximately R28 000 for each car. It is reported that Khanyi missed payments for three consecutive months starting from March this year, but settled those fees.
Khanyi Mbau recently had to downgrade her home to a “smaller” all-white abode. She revealed this on her popular BET reality show, “Mbau Reloaded: Always Rise.
The home appears to be spacious but not for Khanyi who called it a “downgrade” adding that her previous house was much bigger.
