Khanyi Mbau gives tips on the art of skin lightening

In the latest episode of her ‘The Art Of Skin Lightening’ guide, Khanyi Mbau drops helpful hints for women who are on their own skin lightening journey. Khanyi firstly apologised for being a bit late with this one. This is because she is in and out of Dubai as well as South Africa. “Had to get my house in order,” she said.

Khanyi Mbau said Dubai is the perfect country for her skin and mentioned that she and her bae were within their bag wen they chose Dubai. “Listen the sun was discovered in the UAE!” she exclaimed.

Her main focus is on the hands and asked her followers if the burnt bananas on the hands subsided as yet. She recommends that people should use different skin products for different seasons and since we entering summer, winter products should be locked away.

“We are now entering the thick of summer, it’s time to switch up our products. Remember I did say in the previous episode that seasons are not the same. You need to stop with the brand or product you used over winter before you start breaking out.”

“Stay away from peels in the summer,” she advises when it comes to hands. “Peels expose undeveloped skin into the atmosphere, placing shock onto them then it causes inflammation.”

Khanyi then says if the skin starts to look pink or red, then the person is burning, “Once your skin starts turning pink or red, stop immediately! That’s a red flag you have gone too far and this applies to the body as well.”

You might have wondered what does she use to have her entire body looking the same colour. Well, here are her tips, “Over a personal study, and remember I am not a doctor but an avid skin lightening fanatic – my experience and observations has proven that your lifestyle is the first point. If you do, every time you touch your steering wheel in the day, you are placing your hands into an oven, and all the active lotion will start to cook.”

She recommends exfoliating your hands twice a week, the same way you might exfoliate the rest of your body.

“You can apply your face cream onto your fingers twice before bed, I repeat twice a week, only! Then when you wake up wash it off immediately before you get onto them with baby shampoo if you can, and moisturize it with aquas cream,” she warned.

Khanyi reckons that people have been lightening their skin very wrong and that leads to an imbalance of skin colour in the whole body. “Your supplier will not stop you from taking stronger formulas because it’s more money, the stronger it is the more expensive it become.”

Khanyi Mbau reckons that the correct way to lighten your skin is to not start with the face because it is the easiest part to get quicker results. “Always start with the body, the body needs about three months to fully take up a different shade but the glow is visible in the first two weeks.”

“So body and hands first. Body daily routine as per your suppliers directions and hands twice a week using the face cream,” she adds, but Khanyi says do not exfoliate your hands.

Khanyi says she has gone back to being darker, meaning her natural skin color because she is tired of trying different products. “I have done them all and most of them have become dangerous.” She says people should be careful because as dangerous as these products are, they can have a huge knock on ones insecurities.
