Kelly Khumalo touches Somizi’s heart

NEW ALBUM: POPULAR SINGLE EMPINI VERY WELL RECEIVED BY ALL Latest offering tackles various pertinent issues.

Fast-growing anthem Empini is an affirmation of love between two people who vow to go to all odd to make their union work, says songstress Kelly Khumalo. Khumalo debuted a few tracks from her album Tvoa to an intimate audience, in conjunction with live streaming to the rest of the country, on social media.

The launch was presented by her close friend Somizi Mhlongo. Tvoa (the voice of Africa) is aptly named because Khumalo sees herself as bringing her voice to the continent and speaking up about pertinent issues that affect people’s daily lives. These include issues close to her heart such as women abuse, patriarchy, family values, spirituality and culture.

The album speaks about these issues and delves deeper into what she says has been in her heart and on her mind.

During the album’s listening session, Khumalo was presented with a plaque by reality TV star and Idols judge Mhlongo and Universal Records.

Tears streamed down the star’s face as she accepted her award for having her single reach “gold” status. Speaking of the single, she explained that the message in the song Empini is the re reason it has had such a great impact pa on her fans.

Mhlongo mentioned the song to touches him so much so that he committed to choreograph the single’s video “free of charge”.

Fans have commented that they believe Khumalo deserves all the accolade as her music brings many of them chills.

When presented with the plaque, the teary singer gave thanks to her teams and fans saying: in “If you don’t know that God exists, look at the work he has d done with my life.”

The album was produced by Mondli Ngcobo.

Khumalo will be launching her album at various venues across the country with the first one confirmed for Durban on Saturday.

The regional tours will see the singing sensation and devoted mother of two perform tracks of the new album to fans and media alike.

The singer has had a tumultuous public life and most of it is depicted candidly on her reality show Life with Kelly Khumalo, revealing her relationships with her mother, sister and children, as well as finding a definitive spiritual path.
