Katlego Maboe’s brother-in-law who leaked cheating video speaks – My sister can’t have kids again
The internet erupted on Friday morning over a video that shows The Expresso Morning Show host and the face of insurance giant Outsurance, Katlego Maboe, confessing to cheating on his wife, Monique Muller.
In it, Muller sets Maboe an ultimatum to tell her who he slept with. It is unclear what the ultimatum is for. Maboe, dressed in a red shirt and blue bathrobe – which has now becomely widely spoofed on Twitter – tells her that he cheated on her with a certain Nikita Murray. Murray is said to be an OUTsurance employee and is also married.
Murray tweeted late on Thursday night: “This video has caused nothing but pain to me and my family. An official statement will be released in the morning from my lawyers. I kindly ask that you please take it down and stop retweeting please.”
As she demands answers, Maboe tells Muller: “We went out, we went to my hotel room and we slept together.”
Her brother, Seth Muller, allegedly shared the clip, and also posted it on Instagram, stating: “Quick update, just got a call from @KatlegoMaboe’s lawyer threatening to have me locked up and my friend @Julian_Literally [rapper Julian Reuben Seroot] if we speak up again about this man’s abuse he put my sister through. Fun fact he probably wouldn’t want the public to know either, he gave my sister an STD which activated cancer cells and she might not be able to have children again, he also cheated on her while she was pregnant with his son and multiple other times. @KatlegoMaboe you can have me locked up, but once again, you can’t hide from this buddy.”
In the post, Seth tagged OUTsurance, anti-femicide activist group SA Women Fight Back, Expresso and Tropika Island of Treasure, which Maboe also hosted. OUTsurance on Friday said that all its TV commercials featuring Maboe would be removed.
OUTsurance spokesperson Natasha Kawulesar told Channel24: “We are aware of the issue surrounding Katlego Maboe and have engaged with him on this. We want to provide Katlego and his family the time and space to deal with this private situation. In the meantime, we will be removing all advertisements featuring Katlego as soon as practically possible.”
Maboe has become known for his catchphrase “Chencha dai deng” in the OUTsurance adverts.
The Expresso Morning Show, which airs on SABC3, said: “Certain serious allegations have been posted on social media about Katlego Maboe and, last night, a video was leaked showing Maboe seemingly admitting to cheating on his partner.
“We have been informed that a legal process relating to the allegations is currently sub judice. We condemn any acts of violence and mistreatment, especially against women and children, and therefore take such allegations very seriously.
“Until such time as the matter has been fully investigated, and pending the outcome, Maboe will not be appearing on The Expresso Morning Show.”
Because of how common it is, The STD referred to is the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is known to cause cancer cells.
