Twist As Warrant Of Arrest Is Issued For Zinhle’s Husband
The Mabena and Ngwenya households have been marred with controversy ever since they had decided to go through a divorce. Zinhle Mabena’s ex-husband has a warrant of arrest on his back because he violated the protection order his soon-to-be ex wife has against him.
The warrant of arrest was issued by the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Friday following her appearance on Wednesday the 17th. It seems as though their problems date back to last year because the protection order was apparently issued by the family court on the 11th of December, after a complaint was laid by the Isibaya actress herself.
Sowetan Live confirmed that the warrant of arrest was issued and claimed to have seen it. The contents of the document as quoted by the publication reads: “Therefore you are hereby authorised and ordered to forthwith arrest the respondent (Ngwenya) in terms of the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998, if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the complainant (Mabena) may suffer imminent harm as a result of the alleged breach of the protection order by the respondent.”
Apparently, Robert Ngwenya violated the warrant’s terms after he tried to visit his estranged wife several times.
Last week Zinhle got arrested under suspicions that she was out to kill him. Robert Ngwenya was ambushed at a petrol station in January, when three men opened fire and shot at his vehicle. During the attack, his body guard died and he later told the media that he has been receiving death threats leading up to the incident.
The two charges of murder and attempted murder got dropped by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) as they could not gather enough evidence to prosecute Zinhle.
After being acquitted of such offences Zinhle said, “I cannot pretend and begin to explain how traumatic last night was for me to spend a night in police detention. I thank my family, close friends and my legal team for their support and faith in my innocence despite the despicable and utter lies that are spreading against me.”
Ngwenya also released a statement saying Zinhle has been abusing him physically.
“…To lead by this example, when I, at some point in my own marriage felt abused by my own wife, not only did I seek a restraining order, but I even laid a complaint with the police because I couldn’t stand physical abuse.
“It therefore, cannot come as a shock or something out of the ordinary if my child or my own wife lay such a complaint against me or any other member of the family. These are the teachings of my family. Let it be noted that divorce is a very draining and emotionally exhausting process for anyone to go through.“
