‘I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with you’ — Nadia Nakai breaks
Mzansi female rapper, Nadia Nakai has broken her silence after the burial of her boyfriend AKA.
Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban on February 10. The shooting also resulted in the death of his lifelong friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
AKA was laid to rest on Saturday at Heroes Acre in Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg.
Nadia, who has been mum on social media, opened up about how she has been coping with the rapper’s death.
On social media and in public spaces, Nadia and AKA did not hold back from gushing over each other and quickly became Mzansi’s favourite celebrity couple after going public about their relationship in March 2022.
In a post, Nadia shared special moments she shared with AKA, and was candid about being distraught after his passing. She also reflected on their love journey, and spoke about being smitten.
“My heart is shattered. This is not what our future was meant to look like. I can’t believe I said my final goodbye to you yesterday. I’ll never see you again for the rest of my lifetime? You loved me loud and proud, thank you baby. Protected me, prayed for me, inspired me. I find it hard to breathe let alone find the words to explain how much I love you,” she wrote.
Nadia said she was longing for AKA, saying she thought she would spend the rest of her life with him.
“I’m going to miss all the special moments we’ve had. This really hurts. I can’t come to terms with the fact that I’ll never hear you say you love me, I’ll never hear your laugh. We had plans.
“There is no pain bigger than the pain of losing you. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with you, I realise you’re the one who spent the rest of your life with me. I don’t know why things happen the way they do, but I’m questioning God right now. Why would He bring us together only to take you away. I don’t understand. I don’t know how I’m going to do this, going on with my life without you. I just can’t. Rest in peace Kiernan, I love you.”
