It’s Thembi Mtshali’s birthday today and she’s ready to throw one helluva party! The legendary stage and screen actress is celebrating an inspiring 70 years of existence on earth.
Thembi Mtshali-Jones is a legend in the world of the Arts. Her most iconic role, to date, has to be that of Thoko on SABC’s popular show in the 90’s, Sgudi Snaysi.
The Kwa-Mashu-born actress has since reached greater heights in her chosen field. And what remains impressive and inspiring is that, even at 70, she is not about that retirement life!
It’s a well-known fact that the majority of the producers in the entertainment industry largely favour the youth. However, mam’ Thembi has somehow managed to remain relevant and in demand as an actress.
Currently, the lanky actress is starring on Imbewu: The Seed on free-to-air channel, eTV. She portrays the character of MaNdlovu and being a true thespian that she is, the actress never delivers a mediocre performance. Mrs Jones still got it!
Taking to Instagram, Thembi marvelled at her long life which is worthy of celebration!
”Whoohoo! I’m 70 today. What a life! I’m blessed beyond measures. My celebration starts now. Happy birthday to me!! Big party this Saturday. ”

Proving just how relevant Thembi Mtshali still is in this forever evolving industry, she was featured with much younger actresses when BONA magazine shone the spotlight on actresses that are currently killing the game.
There’s nothing more inspiring than being honoured whilst still alive.
”I called my whole country to celebrate with me when I accepted my Living legend award on Monday. You made me!”
Family over everything!
