Gospel artist Malusi Mbokazi has cancelled all his performances due to ill health. On Saturday, 10 September he hosted a successful live recording at Durban Station.

His gospel colleagues including Jumbo, Thinah Zungu, Ayanda Ntanzi and Phindi P came out to support him.

However, the success of the event was short-lived as he fell sick four days later.

Malusi said: “I was still celebrating my successful night when I felt a sudden sharp pain in my stomach.

“I was rushed to a Durban hospital where I was diagnosed with cholecystitis.

“I was subsequently admitted. I am currently receiving medical attention and I’ve been advised to take a temporary break from gigs until I am fine.

“Therefore, due to ill health I will not be able to do any performances until the 1st of October.”

Cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder.

The 40-year-old singer apologized for the inconvenience caused.

“I would like to express my sincere apology for the cancelled bookings,” he said.

“In the same breath, I would like to urge people to pray for me and my family during this time. I hope to be back on stage soon.”

The artist expressed his gratitude for the support he’s received.

Malusi’s music career blossomed when he joined a cappella group Abanqobi.

He later pursued a solo career.

Malusi recorded his third album last week, which he is yet to give a title.
