Gomora actor Siyabonga Zubane (Sdumo) has passed away

Gomora actor Siyabonga Zubane (23), best known for his role as Sdumo on the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela, has died.

Gomora sent the publication a statement, confirming that he died on Saturday, 7 May.

“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of one of our cast members, Siyabonga, who played Sdumo. He passed away in the early hours of this morning,” read the statement.“

We pray for his family’s healing through this devastation. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Losing such a young person with immense talent, who had a bright future ahead, is a complete loss to the entire industry,” it continued.

The statement added that details of the memorial service and funeral would be announced in due course.

Sdumo joined the show a few months after its debut in 2020, starring as a tsotsi that worked for Mam Sonto (Connie Chiume).

Tributes for the actor have been pouring in on social media, with speculations that he died by suicide. Many people have praised him for his acting.

Actress Masasa Mbangeni said she was saddened.

“Heartbroken to read that young actor from Gomora has passed from suicide. May he find peace and rest,” she wrote.

Then Lisa Maliee wrote: “We were happy to see you on TV after a difficult journey you had to go through, and today we wake up to sad news. Rest in peace, my gee.”

Sheldon Cameron conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased.“Sending love and light to the family of Siyabonga, best known for his role as Sdumo in Gomora. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
