Gauteng records 1,197 Covid-19 recoveries and 15 deaths

Gauteng’s wellbeing office said on Friday morning the area had recorded 1,197 recuperations by individuals who had been contaminated with Covid-19.

Wellbeing MEC Bandile Masuku affirmed that the area had recorded 15 passings.

The absolute number of affirmed Covid-19 cases in the area was 1,804.

“Out of a sum of 9,204 contacts followed, 7,990 individuals have finished the 14-day checking period without any indications announced, and consequently they are de-disconnected.”

Masuku said 66 individuals who tried positive for Covid-19 were being treated in emergency clinic.

Of the 1,804 cases revealed in the territory, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni remained the most influenced territories. Johannesburg recorded 1,009 cases and Ekurhuleni had 398 cases. Tshwane followed with 258 cases, the West Rand had 54 and Sedibeng 21. There were 64 cases unallocated by district.

In Johannesburg most cases were hailed in Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton.

Wellbeing clergyman Dr Zweli Mkhize said on Thursday there were 424 new instances of the respiratory ailment, taking the national aggregate to 8,232.

There were additionally eight additional passings revealed, incurring significant damage to 161. Six of the new passings were in the Western Cape and two in KwaZulu-Natal.
