Former Miss SA Jo-Ann Strauss celebrates her mom’s birthday
Former Miss South Africa Jo-Ann Strauss is welcoming October in a big way today and we are right there with her. Jo-Ann is celebrating her mom’s birthday today.
She took to Instagram to wish her mom a lovely birthday. She said, “Happy Birthday to my incredible mother who has always been the biggest inspiration, despite the hurdles she encounters in life. My mom (and dad in particular) have been living with her frontotemporal dementia diagnosis for over 5 years now.
Every day she lives life fully still and he is at her side every step of the way. How these two inspire me with their love. Lief jou, my moedertjie. They may not remember what you said, but they’ll remember how you made them feel”
A number of people have taken to the comments section to help wish Jo-Ann her mom a lovely day. These were some of the reactions:
@ivoneewerts said, “Happy birthday to your mother what a privilege it is, to celebrate it with her family. May surely goodness and mercy follow her all the days of her life ????❤️”
@mariannebeaunita said, “Blessings on your birthday Aunty Ingrid…beautiful inside and out, such a sweet soul??”
@symone.kelly said, “I remember watching her helping you with your First Born when you visited the Expresso Morning Show?”
About three months ago Jo-Ann celebrated her daughter’s third birthday. Celebrating her baby girl, Jo-Ann took to Instagram and said, “Three years since you arrived, my spirited independent and loyal little lion. The moment I met you, I knew that you’d be more than we could ever dream of and you’ve shown us just how much a little person can teach the big world. Happy Birthday, my little one.”
The former Top Billing Host Jo-Ann, is a mother to four beautiful babies. She welcomed baby number 4 in October last year on her husband’s birthday. Talk about a birthday present to hubby.
Jo-Ann enjoys motherhood and is something she said she will never take for granted.
She explained, “Being a mother is something I will never take for granted. And being blessed with our fourth baby later this year is beyond our wildest dreams…It is a surreal time to be expecting, a truly strange time to experience joy and hope when the world has changed so much. I am grateful that our little one is in a safe place and that her/ his brother and sisters are already so protective and excited.”
Jo-Ann celebrated rarely posts her children’s pictures and she explained why she does not on her blog.
“Some people feel that I should show my family on social media. I often feel the same…until I’m reminded of how strangely intrusive (and unnecessarily negative and critical) social media can be. As someone who has spent nearly half of her life in the media, I am relatively comfortable with people discussing me (sometimes in a negative light) on social media and the glare of public scrutiny.
