Former Big Brother Naija star dies after car crash – VIDEO
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Patrick “Rico Swavey” Fakoya has died.
The 29-year-old was involved in a car crash on Wednesday, 12 October, and died today after shortly being on life support in the hospital.
Nigerian entertainers had already started a fund-raiser in the hope of raising money for his treatment.
His fellow housemates Tobi Bakre and Sandra “Alex Unusual” Alexandra made the announcement of his death on their Twitter pages.
Tobi posted a photo of him and Rico, saying he had died.
“We lost him. But thanks a lot, guys. God knows best,” he wrote.
This year’s housemate Groovy wrote that he was with Rico on Sunday at the Big Brother Naija winner’s party.
@groovymono: “This is so unreal. This was just on Sunday at the winner’s party. My team had told me Rico was around and I immediately went over to him to say thank you for all the support and love. We lost a real one. God give your family strength to bare this loss. RIP Rico.”
His management also posted a video of the damaged car via his Twitter handle, asking for prayers and support from his fans.
Rico Swavey had a good music and movie career after being known for his role in the Life 101 drama series, and releasing a song, titled Afrosantana, years ago.
